OConnor Helps Crescenzo Raise the Bar of Visual Excitement on "CSI: Las Vegas"
News: OConnor Helps Crescenzo Raise the Bar of Visual Excitement on "CSI: Las Vegas"Keeping a hit television show that’s been on the air for 14 years fresh and interesting is a demanding challenge. As scripts get bigger to sustain audience interest, budgets inevitably get smaller. “When a show reaches syndication, it has primarily done its job of crossing the finish line of making money for a very long time,” says "CSI" cinematographer Crescenzo Notarile, ASC. “So, why spend more when the networks, at this point, don’t have to. It’s a creative challenge to keep the audience coming back with what we have. It’s not making more – it’s making the freshest. Working with OConnor and it’s support equipment, it keeps us cameramen perpetually perfecting camera movement and striving higher to express a story. Each week we try to creatively surpass what we did in the previous episode, and in our own way, raise the bar – if not for the audience, for ourselves as filmmakers. And, I can always count on OConnor to be there to help me make this possible.”

Litepanels Takes on the Wilds of Colorado for Horror Flick
News: Litepanels Takes on the Wilds of Colorado for Horror FlickFor writer/producer/director Robert Palmer, the idea behind "I Am Alone," starring Gareth David Lloyd, began as a simple horror film video diary, but as the story developed, Palmer and partner Michael A. Weiss realized that the concept behind this project would allow them to push the boundaries of both reality TV and horror films. A mention in “Entertainment Weekly” discussing their Kickstarter campaign gave them a boost, a promotion party in Montrose, Colorado gave them visibility – and they raised the modest budget they required. Going in, however, they knew their package had to be minimal, not only because of budget but also due to the hard to get to locations in the wilds of Colorado. That’s where Litepanels Sola 4 and Inca 6 LEDs came in.

Heads are rolling: OConnor for The Evil Dead Remake
News: Heads are rolling: OConnor for The Evil Dead Remake"The Evil Dead," 1981 classic cult horror movie directed by Sam Raimi, is famous for its bloody content. For the 2013 remake," Evil Dead," Raimi chose Fede Alvarez as director, and decided instead to take a producing role alongside Robert Tapert and Bruce Campbell, lead actor and producer of the original film. To fill in the position of DP, Raimi chose cinematographer Aaron Morton, NZCS, who was also DP for the Starz series Spartacus and part of the camera crew of Underworld 3. The challenge: Shoot a horror movie that won’t be polished or retroactively enhanced by CGI, and make it as bloody as possible. The task required a fluid head that is reliable and robust enough to cope with sticky artificial blood and allows for total control of camera movements. To meet these conditions, Aaron Morton selected a 2575D fluid head by OConnor, part of Vitec Videocom, a Vitec Group company, to support his two Sony PMW-F65 cameras.

To create an urban cityscape with dark, cool shadows amid the building canyons, and to make it as real as possible in the multi-camera world, is a daily balance of shadow and light.
