News : Chicago Final Cut Pro Users Group Announces 2005 Agenda

(Chicago, Il.-August 16, 2005) The Chicago Final Cut Pro Users Group announced its meeting agendas for August through the end of 2005.


The users group, comprised of video editors and interested parties of Apple’s Final Cut Pro nonlinear editing software meet the fourth Wednesday of each month at the Adler Planetarium, 1300 South Lake Shore Drive located on Chicago’s majestic lakefront.
 
Featured presenters at the August 24th meeting are CHIFCPUG founder and past president Gary Adcock; Jeff Evenson and CHIFCPUG past-president and president-elect of the DVD Association of Chicago, Chip Eberhart.  Adcock is scheduled to present a primer on 24p editing and Evenson will  present a short tutorial on how to use Apple’s Compressor 2 that recently shipped with Apple’s Final Cut Pro Studio Suite. Eberhart will review Steve Martins Advance FCP Techniques.
 
The meeting wraps with a showing of video reels prepared by the members as well as the monthly raffle of prizes worth hundreds of dollars.
 
In September, Lisa Brennis, author of numerous Final Cut Pro books and “how-to” manuals and Wes Plate from Automatic Duck headline the meeting. Plate will premier Automatic Duck Pro Import AE 3.0. ADPI is a plug-in for Adobe After Effects that lets users import sequences from  Apple’s Final Cut Pro editing system or from Apple’s Motion with complete translation of effects and layers into an After Effects composition.
 
Bob Sliga, senior colorist from The Film & Tape Works, Inc., Chicago, joins David Sallak from Midwest Media, Inc., Schaumburg, Il., to review “Final Touch 2.0”. Final Touch 2.0 is a powerful, very functional tool for high – end color correction.
 
October sees the return of Final Cut Pro author and guru Larry Jordan, from Larry Jordan Biz.com  A “must see” presenter, Jordan will share his insight, tricks and power tools that will help make any video editors job a lot easier.
 
We wrap up our year in November with a feature presentation by Richard Harrington, a certified Project Management Professional, Apple Certified Trainer in Final Cut Pro, and Adobe Certified Expert in Photoshop and After Effects. Harrington promises to wow the audience with tricks, tips and powerful shortcuts found in Adobe’s powerful  Photoshop CS as well as some “on the spot tips and shortcuts for FCP 5.”
 
The Chicago Final Cut Pro Users Group  is dedicated to the education, professional growth and development of its members through the exchange of ideas, knowledge and experience. The groups focus is not limited solely to the Final Cut Pro software; rather it encompasses a variety of video editing, compositing and authoring software/hardware utilized in the professional video, broadcast, event and pro-sumer markets. CHIFCPUG is a resource for all levels of technical expertise in the field of computer-based video editing as well as providing a conduit to those seeking to enhance their skills in addition to offering greater networking opportunities for those in the field of post-production.
