(Sterling Heights, Michigan) Aurora Video Systems announces the immediate availability of new 5.0 drivers for Aurora Fuse-X and Pipe-family capture cards. With thousands of man-hours of new development, the Aurora A/V 5.0 drivers deliver the most sought after features for Audio post professionals.
"The Interceptor™ feature functions completely independent of the running QuickTime application, and has no direct impact on, nor interaction with the running application" said Aurora C.T.O. Tim McMahon "The intercepted output video is available any time an application is doing QuickTime playback by watching data that's already being sent to the Macintosh screen. This means no additional 3rd party certification is necessary. If your application can play QuickTime to the Mac screen, then Interceptor™ will push that same data out to the Fuse-X's S-Video or Composite ports."
The Fuse-X card has already been tested in a wide variety of applications including ProToolsHD™, Digital Performer™, Logic Pro™, SoundTrack Pro™, various web browsers, player apps, and even the Macintosh Finder. All popular compression formats are supported, including, DV25, DV50, MotionJPEG-A, PhotoJPEG, Sorenson3, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H.264, various uncompressed CODECs, and more.
"After shipping the first Fuse-X drivers, we asked for feedback from our user base, and got plenty of it!" stated Mike Stroven, V.P. of Systems Engineering for Aurora. "The most sought-after feature is the ability to run Interceptor™ mode without enabling the extended Mac desktop." Apparently, there was a lot of confusion for people not familiar with the Macintosh "Displays" preference pane, so we streamlined things and made the Interceptor™ completely independent of the extended desktop."
New in 5.0 are several features which enhance the end-user experience, including, the ability to enable or disable Interceptor™ without a reboot, and the ability to switch quickly between NTSC and PAL standards and between different field and bandwidth modes without restarting. For good measure, Aurora includes the ability to load a user-provided default image to show on the video monitors when QuickTime video is not being played.
When the Interceptor™ mode is not active, the Fuse-X acts like any other video capture/edit card, and is fully compatible with editing apps such as Final Cut Pro, and Adobe Premiere.
With Genlock capability, and the ability to lock downstream hardware to the digital audio clock, the Fuse-X with the 5.0 drivers offers unparalleled performance and functionality to the audio professional and the video editor alike.
