(LAS VEGAS--BUSINESS WIRE--Jan. 3, 2006) M-Audio today introduced Podcast Factory Deluxe, the latest in the company's portfolio of affordable, easy-to-use podcasting solutions.
In late 2005, M-Audio introduced Podcast Factory, the industry's first product to include all the necessary components for users to get started in podcasting. Podcast Factory was met with strong demand and in turn exposed a market segment that required a high-end podcasting solution. With the addition of Podcast Factory Deluxe, M-Audio now boasts a robust, scalable line of podcasting solutions to suit every user need and ability, from novice to advanced user.
"The Podcasting industry has experienced tremendous growth in the past year, and products like M-Audio's Podcast Factory have paved the way for the average consumer to get involved," said Ben Bajarin, analyst at Creative Strategies. "Podcasting gives virtually anyone a platform to be heard, and M-Audio's Podcast Factory products give users an affordable and painless way to begin podcasting."
Podcasting Explained
Podcasting - often referred to as audio blogging - is the process of recording audio (music, commentary, etc.), posting it to the web and making it available for subscription. Podcasting is heralded as a breakthrough in free speech in that it provides a level platform for voices to be heard - with podcasting, virtually anyone has the ability to create and distribute audio of their choice, from music to informative broadcasting to editorials.
The mechanics behind podcasting are very straightforward. Audio is recorded via the microphone in MP3 format using standard recording software. Once the file is created, the podcast is published by creating an RSS feed with an enclosure that points to the podcast's URL. At that point, the podcast is made available via the Internet, with access guidelines established by the podcast's creator. Consistent with podcasting's spirit of free speech, most podcasts are available free of charge to the general public.
Podcasting Poised for Growth in 2006
With podcasting's rapid growth, users have been piecing together their own solutions, doing their best to integrate their own hardware and software, with no guarantee that the solution will reliably produce a quality end-result. M-Audio's Podcast Factory products offer everything someone needs to get started in podcasting - the microphone, audio interface and software. With M-Audio, users are assured that the products work well together and create professional-quality podcasts every time.
What's in the Box
Podcast Factory Deluxe is a complete podcasting solution. Included in-box is an M-Audio® MobilePre USB audio interface, two Nova® condenser microphones with desktop stands, Ableton Live Lite 4 software to record audio and add a soundtrack to the recording and Red Square Podifier software to generate an RSS feed for posting to the web and user subscriptions. Podcast Factory Deluxe offers users a step-up in quality and functionality from the original Podcast Factory product. The Deluxe version offers an interface with phantom power for the two professional condenser microphones and two headphone outputs for recording interviews. Also, the MobilePre USB offers users a new feature that allows for routing of VOIP services through the driver in order to record phone interviews.
Pricing and Availability
M-Audio's podcasting products are available online at e-tailers such as amazon.com, and will be available at other major consumer electronics retailers in early 2006. M-Audio currently anticipates that Podcast Factory Deluxe will begin shipping in February 2006 with an MSRP of $299. M-Audio Podcast Factory is currently shipping with an MSRP of $179.
