(Wayne, NJ - January 12, 2006) JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY invites the film community to a free, one-of-a-kind screening event of Oscar-nominated filmmaker, Andy Young's demonstration of his HDV-to-35mm filmout footage using JVC's ProHD camera, the GY-HD100U.
Screening events are scheduled to take place on January 31 in the heart of Hollywood at the prestigious Director's Guild of America Screening Room at 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. and on February 2 in Chicago at the Columbia College Chicago Film Row Cinema at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
At this event, Young of Archipelgo Films will show footage that he shot on assignment with The Bronx Zoo, the Wildlife Conservation Foundation and National Geographic Television where he followed a team of the zoo's scientists into remote places of Madagascar with the GY-HD100U.
These screening events follow the success of JVC's recent screening with Young at the Tribeca Film Center in New York. This event gave local filmmakers and DPs an opportunity to see what the GY-HD100 is capable of producing and the different environments in which the camera can be used. Young showed his 720p/30 footage shot on the GY-HD100U that was conformed to 720p/23.98 during the editing process, up-rezed to 1080p and mastered to a film print.
"I chose the GY-HD100U because I needed an ENG-style camera that was lightweight, easy to manipulate and worked the way I was used to working," said Young. "This was one of my most challenging shoots ever in terms of abuse of equipment and the GY-HD100 performed to meet all my demanding needs. The footage truly is compelling."
"In essence, this event is our tribute to Andy Young's work with the GY-HD100U and for us to give filmmakers, cinematographers and film students an opportunity to witness real world HDV workflow in action," said Dave Walton, general manager, marketing communications, JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY. "We're excited that he chose our new ProHD camera for his project in Madagascar. The conditions he shot in show the capabilities of this camera. Being able to illustrate how the camera performs in different scenarios and the quality of video it can produce is very exciting for us. Both Andy's story and his footage are truly remarkable."
Admission to events is free. To register, visit JVC's Web site, http://pro.jvc.com/ and click on the ProHD Film Event banner. Those registered will receive a confirmation number.
