ProxSys Media Servers Streamline Digital Asset Management

Last Updated: April 5, 2006 7:22 pm GMT
(Campbell, Calif. – April 5, 2006) Focus Enhancements, Inc. (NASDAQ CM: FCSE), a worldwide leader in media acquisition, management and delivery technology, today announced High Definition (HD) support for its industry-leading ProxSys® line of advanced digital asset management (DAM) servers.

With the version 5.0 software update, ProxSys Media Server provides comprehensive media asset management solutions for customers that have the need to organize rich multi-format media, including HD content. ProxSys is designed for medium and large-scale deployments in video-driven applications, including broadcast archive and play-out, TV monitoring, medical, sports analysis, education and training, and video archiving.

"Now with HD support, ProxSys aligns strategically with our FireStore family of video acquisition products and our retail digital signage players," said Michael Conway, senior vice president of business development and strategy for Focus Enhancements. "ProxSys is the most complete, cost effective DAM solution on the market. It is specifically designed for managing and leveraging media assets in the video-driven business paradigm, giving work groups unprecedented levels of access and immediacy without the tier one price tag."

ProxSys replaces the need to manually manage volumes of dispersed analog and digital videotapes, CD-ROMs, audio CDs, and digital images within the organization, creating a seamless workflow environment. ProxSys manages terabytes of low- and high-resolution video, audio, images, documents, and data from a simple web browser interface, allowing quick preview and access to clips from any location over the Internet.

ProxSys 5.0 new features include:
  • High Definition native file support with MPEG-4 proxy extract
  • Additional file formats include DV, HDV, MPEG-1, MPEG-2 MP@LL, MP@ML, MP@H14, 422@ML, and all 18 ATSC
  • UTF-8 character encoding support
  • Fuzzy metadata search parameters
  • Multi-channel scheduling and playout
  • Compatibility with Masterplay Broadcast System with trigger events
  • Updated GUI with projects and content type picons
  • Macintosh OS-X client support
  • Application port to IBM xSeries 346 server with updated Linux 2.6 Kernel

ProxSys is available now through the worldwide Focus Enhancements dealer and distributor networks starting at $25,000 MSRP. The 5.0 software upgrade will be available to existing ProxSys systems for $3,495 MSRP, not including installation.
