RaveHD 2.0 client/server system makes this product an extensive VTR replacement solution, with uncompressed SD, HD, Dual Link HD (4:4:4) and 2K (HSDL) in a single system as well as hardware accelerated upconverting and downconverting. New features that include reverse audio, slave record, deck standby, 2K HSDL support.
(Oakdale, California – April, 2006) SpectSoft LLC., a leading provider of uncompressed video solutions on the Linux platform, today announced that SpectSoft's powerful RaveHD system has been installed at the USC School of Cinema-Television. In a combined effort from SpectSoft, LLC and Medéa Corporation, RaveHD is now one of the HD tools at USC. A donation effort that has been in the works for over a year was finalized with the installation of SpectSoft's Colbalt RaveHD system at the School in March, 2006.
SpectSoft's newest version not only offers new features that include reverse audio, slave record, deck standby, and 2K HSDL support but the overhaul of the existing code base now takes RaveHD 2.0 to a client/server product and makes this product an extensive VTR replacement solution. "It will be exciting to work with the school and to help them utilize RaveHD to it's fullest potential", states Ramona Howard, President of SpectSoft. "RaveHD supports uncompressed SD, HD, Dual Link HD(4:4:4) and 2k(HSDL) in a single system as well as hardware accelerated upconverting and downconverting, plenty of options to keep them busy for awhile", adds Howard. "The development of 2.0 had taken a bit longer than anticipated and we are exited to finally get this into their hands and add them to our list of users".
"The ability to store and playback uncompressed HD video and other formats adds great flexibility to our production and research capabilities in visual effects and animation." said USC research professor Richard Weinberg.
The SpectSoft Cobalt system offers several ethernet options and the flexability to upgrade and or attach multiple arrays to increase not only storage capacity but added thruput. "Working with Medéa to make this donation possible was essential and the hardware they donated puts the film students at the same level as many top studios running RaveHD DDRs today", comments Howard. "Medéa's VideoRaid 10/2000 FCR2X offers USC students 2 TB of high speed storage with fail-safe RAID protection that guards their valuable content in the event of a disk drive failure. And, its dual 2 Gbit fibre channel interface provides plenty of bandwidth to support all the RaveHD’s capabilities."
RaveHD can be seen at the upcoming NAB convention in Las Vegas. Detailed demos can be seen in the SpectSoft suite at the Hilton (North Tower, 18th floor Room 121) or on the showroom floor in several booths (Central Hall C2548 and South Hall SU3819) Interested individuals can contact SpectSoft for both private and group demos.
