News : Curious Software and Inrix Combine for Real-time and Predictive Traffic Maps

Last Updated: April 25, 2006 6:38 am GMT
(Las Vegas, NV – April 24, 2005) Curious Software and Inrix Inc. announced today at the National Association of Broadcasters electronic media show (NAB 2006) that the companies are extensively collaborating to enable media broadcasters with innovative, animated traffic maps showcasing real-time and predictive traffic flow and incident data from Inrix.

Curious Traffic Producer harnesses the acclaimed mapmaking power of Curious World Maps specifically for illustrating traffic reports. The simple template-driven user-interface allows broadcast media graphics and non-graphics professionals to ‘click-and-create’ still or animated traffic maps to be ready for air in an instant.

Add to this the ability to incorporate the highest quality real-time and predictive traffic data from Inrix, and broadcasters have the ultimate tool for producing clear, accurate, informative, up-to-the-minute maps to illustrate their traffic broadcasts.

Inrix currently provides real-time traffic incident information for 138 metropolitan markets and real-time traffic speed and dynamic predictive information for more than 20 metropolitan markets. Compared to current solutions that rely solely on flow data from often unreliable traffic sensors, Inrix aggregates data from a variety of sources including existing speed and incident data, historical data, weather conditions and forecasts, school calendars, major events, construction, holidays and other local variables unique to each market using sophisticated Bayesian Analysis to calculate current and future traffic conditions with a high degree of accuracy.

Halid Hatic, President of Sales for Curious Software, says: “We are delighted to be working with Inrix, and believe that the combination of our Traffic Producer with Inrix’s traffic data will give all of our customers a unique and ground-breaking opportunity to enhance their traffic broadcasts.”

“Our real-time and predictive traffic services analyze information from hundreds of public and private sources, providing commuters with traffic reports they can depend on,” said Kush Parikh, Vice President, Business Development for Inrix. “Our approach also provides Curious Software broadcast customers with the unique ability to provide highly accurate 1-day, 3-day and 5-day traffic forecasts that help consumers better plan their daily commutes.”
