Panasonic Broadcast announced at the NAB convention that Raycom Media, Inc. has purchased DVCPRO P2 camcorders and drives valued at more than $2.2 million. Raycom announced its decision to convert to P2 last May. With the purchase of this additional P2 solid state memory equipment, news operations at 21 Raycom stations will utilize DVCPRO P2 by the end of this year.
Participating in the contract signing were: John Baisley, president, Panasonic Broadcast; Paul McTear, president and CEO, Raycom; Tadao Shimozuru, Director, Professional AV Systems Business Unit, Panasonic AVC Networks Company; and William Edwards, director, broadcast sales development, Panasonic Broadcast. Raycom Media, Inc. (Montgomery, AL) is one of the nation’s largest broadcasters, with stations covering more than 12 % of U.S. television households.
