News : Blackmagic Design Announces DeckLink HD Studio

World’s First Post Production Grade HDMI and Analog Component Capture Card

Last Updated: September 8, 2006 5:42 pm GMT
(IBC2006 -- Amsterdam, Netherlands – September 8, 2006) Blackmagic Design Inc. today announced DeckLink HD Studio, the world' s first capture and playback card to support both HDMI and analog component video. DeckLink HD Studio can be seen on Blackmagic Design’s IBC 2006 stand located at #7.526.

HDMI is the new emerging standard in digital video, and with decks and video cameras now supporting this new digital standard, DeckLink HD Studio is the complete solution for connecting to these exciting new devices.

DeckLink HD Studio allows capture from HDMI cameras or decks, as well as analog decks and set top boxes. HDMI playback and analog playback allows connection to a wide range of video monitors, big screen televisions and video projectors for incredible quality client monitoring. DeckLink HD Studio instantly switches between HD and SD so you can work with almost any deck, camera or monitor.

“Our new DeckLink HD Studio card gives users new options of working with uncompressed HD or SD video without having to buy an expensive HD camera. They can use a low-cost HDMI camera and take the uncompressed video from the CCD. This workflow will truly liberate the video post production market. CCD image sensors have always been high quality, but we've never able to access the direct digital video output from them until now! With Intensity we can now take the potential of the lower cost cameras to their highest levels,” said Grant Petty, CEO, Blackmagic Design Inc. “Blackmagic Design is committed to changing the video industry. We are proud to take this next step forward.”

When quality is important, DeckLink HD Studio takes advantage of the same high end quality technology as used in all other DeckLink HD series video cards, including 10 bit capture and playback, high speed 4 lane PCI Express as well as 14 bit digital to analog conversion for incredible output quality. HDMI allows a completely uncompressed digital connection to cameras, big screen televisions and video projectors, so it's the ideal video standard for maximum quality from low costs equipment.

DeckLink HD Studio and the entire range of DeckLink HD cards from Blackmagic Design are the only video capture cards on the market to feature true 64 bit addressing that eliminates system memory limits, so customers can install as much memory as they need.

As with all DeckLink series video capture cards, DeckLink HD Studio features the same uncompressed and compressed file formats used by all cards, allowing large storage area network based systems to use shared video files for full compatibility.

Use with the latest PCI-Express Mac and Windows computers. DeckLink Studio is part of the world’s most affordable uncompressed digital video editing and design solutions.
