(Denver, CO - October 12, 2006) - Award-winning creative digital studio !mpossible Pictures has expanded its team with the addition of Producer Julie Morrandez and VFX Artist Hector Espinosa. The two have already launched into projects for Discovery Channel, McDonald's and DISH Network among others.
"The addition of Hector and Julie illustrates our commitment to continually expand our award-winning team by attracting talent from near and far," says Joel Pilger, President. "We're putting the word out: top quality work is happening right here at !mpossible Pictures, in Denver."
Producer Julie Morrandez comes to !mpossible after many years as a Senior Producer at various shops in the San Francisco market. Most recently, she was Senior Producer at Phoenix Edit, Effects & Design where she oversaw all commercials for clients such as Toyota, Disney, AT&T, PG&E, Hewlett-Packard, and IDT.
From 1998 - 2004, Morrandez worked at Pomegranit Editorial in several capacities starting as a Postproduction Supervisor and moving her way up to Senior Producer. She took a nine-month break from Pomegranit from 2000 - 2001 to pursue her love of editing and work on a freelance basis. This included a position as Assistant Editor on the hugely successful Pixar Animation feature "Monsters Inc." Morrandez is also the Producer, Director and Editor of the documentary, "The Magnificent Andersons," which was well received on the film festival circuit, as well as the two films, "Trade Out" and "Hera," which featured all-female snowboarders.
"My husband and I love the outdoors so Denver was the perfect locale for our lifestyle and interests," says Morrandez. "I wanted to continue my work in this industry, and I'm very excited to have found a place like !mpossible here. It is a small, intimate group of people who are nice, do amazing work and are very talented. Exactly what I was looking for."
Prior to !mpossible, Hector Espinosa was a Graphic Designer at the Filmworkers Club in Chicago where he contributed to campaigns for Applebee's, Sears, Budweiser, Michelob and Gatorade. The talented artist believes that design is an ongoing learning experience, and that being open to the creative minds of others is essential to one's own personal growth.
At !mpossible, Espinosa has already completed high-concept promos for Discovery Channel for its "Investigative Thursdays" and "Mythbusters" programming, commercial campaigns for Ford, Western Union and Zima, as well as the animated promos for "The Ultimate Coffeehouse Crossword Challenge," a cross-branding effort by Starbucks, New York Times and Discovery Times.
"I was attracted to !mpossible Pictures because I saw that our philosophies and artistic approaches were very complementary," concludes Espinosa. "!mpossible draws upon the vast experience, creative ingenuity and technical skills of its directors, artists and editors to drive ideas forward. It is very much a team effort here, but we're also given the freedom and tools to grow as individual artists."
