News : Cineon/DPX PRO v2.0.5 QuickTime Components with IR Dirt & Scratch Layer support

Last Updated: December 6, 2006 4:37 pm GMT
(Santa Barbara, CA -- December 5, 2006) GLUE TOOLS Announces Version 2.0.5 of its Cineon/DPX PRO QuickTime Components for MacOSX. Infrared Dirt and Scratch Channel Support Added For Film Restoration.

The Cineon/DPX components are opening up film restoration capabilities to QuickTime enabled applications. Along with the standard feature-set the components already provide, an artist can now get actual dirt and scratch information, about the footage they are working with.

This new release of the Cineon/DPX PRO QuickTime components add the ability to read infared dirt and scratch channels embedded into DPX files. The components provide the ability to insert data showing each of the scratch or dust hits, right into the image's alpha channel. Applications can then use this alpha channel to help the artist identify which parts of the frame needs work. The infared channel is not automatically provided in the DPX file. Scratch and dirt scans are an extra step in the film scanning process. This is a channel that can be added to the DPX file by most modern film scanners at the time the celluloid is scanned.

As with the previous versions of the Cineon/DPX Components, this new release supports 8 and 16-bit linear image data, as well as 10-bit logarithmic and raw RGB image data. TimeCode support is provided for all QuickTime enabled applications.

The latest version Cineon DPX QuickTime Components are available for only $89 USD. This is a free upgrade for v2.0 license holders, and an upgradable package for existing v1.0 license holders. Please contact us for details. For more information, visit: http://www.gluetools.com.

The Cineon file format is a feature film industry standard. The DPX digital file format is used heavily in the feature film and High Definition broadcast industry for production.
