(Montreal, Canada, January 24, 2007) Matrox Graphics Inc., the leading manufacturer of graphics solutions for professionals, is pleased to announce the new Extio™ F1220, the DualHead® edition to the Extio series. The Extio F1220 enables the extension of one or two displays, audio, two IEEE 1394 FireWire ports, and up to six USB devices, at distances of up to 820 feet (250 meters) over fiber optic cable. By separating the computer from the user interface, the Extio F1220 eliminates noise and heat while facilitating system maintenance and support.
“The Extio F1220 two-monitor Remote Graphics Unit solution compliments the Extio series, while still offering the same technology-rich feature set,” says Aboubakeur Nacef, Product Manager – Media Creation and Editing, Matrox Graphics Inc. “Sound recording studios, AV post-production, and TV/radio broadcasting environments can continue to connect USB and FireWire peripherals locally to the Extio F1220, and output information to a multi-monitor onscreen desktop of two displays, all the while operating in a silent workspace.”
The Matrox Extio F1220 Remote Graphics Unit (RGU), along with the connected PCI or PCI Express (PCIe) interface card1 located in the host PC, are fanless hardware components perfect for quiet work environments. The Matrox Extio F1220 is outfitted with a Matrox-designed graphics chip armed with 128MB of graphics memory, a Dual-LC connector for fiber optic cable, four monitor connectors to run two DVI-I or two VGA displays at resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 per output, six USB 2.0 ports (four in front, two in back), two IEEE 1394 FireWire ports, integrated audio hardware, an optical connector for digital audio output, and analog stereo-audio connectors for a microphone input, line input and line output. Bundled software for the Matrox Extio F1220 includes the Matrox PowerDesk-SE suite, an intuitive interface with unique desktop management features, and display drivers for Microsoft® Windows® XP X64 (64-bit), Windows® XP, Windows® Server 2003, and Windows® 2000.
