(Somerville, MA. 28th March 2007) Since its grand opening in 1995, more than 20 million people have come to the TD Banknorth Garden to see the arena's famous tenants, the NHL's Boston Bruins and NBA's Boston Celtics, as well as world-renowned concerts and sporting events, family shows, wrestling, ice shows and so much more. But a few months ago, the state of the art venue became a world record holder in its own right as it became the first ever indoor arena with a high definition display system and control room.
When the TD Banknorth Garden Arena replaced their entire scoreboard display system last September, they did so with state of the art Mitsubishi HD LED video board and 3 Daktronics LED rings above and below the main video board. Having all these new display surfaces requires a constant stream of custom created HD content. This meant a revamp of existing SD equipment at the arena’s in house production suite in order support a complete end to end HD workflow from graphics and HD video feeds to storage and playout.
When deciding on the right gear for the job, John Mitchell, director of video production and services at the TD Banknorth Garden, knew that he needed fast, affordable and highly reliable workstations to render animations and graphics for world’s first HD LED display in a sports arena.
