(Santa Barbara, CA -- May 21, 2007) GLUE TOOLS releases Cineon/DPX Pro v2.5.1 with Anamorphic Un-Squeeze and Performance Gains with Multi-CPU support.
Glue Tools has released v2.5.1 of its Cineon and DPX QuickTime Components. This new release includes a substantial amount of work to improve playback performance.
Version 2.5.1 automatically distributes the playback work across each of the processors in the Macintosh. Two and Four processor Macs will increase playback speeds dramatically.
On capable systems with high speed storage, the Cineon/DPX Components can achieve full playback speeds. On slower machines, including laptops, the ability to “scrub” through a shot, is now possible. Regardless of the system’s capability, the Cineon/DPX Components enable any QuickTime application to have a Cineon or DPX frame flipper “built-in.”
Also new in this release is an Anamorphic Scaling feature, to un-squeeze frames that were shot in aspect ratios, such as 2.35. The feature can allow Final Cut Pro Artists to import ranges of DPX frames, and adjust them to aspect ratios including 1.33, 1.778, 1.85, 2.35, and 2.37. The original image is left untouched, and all the data is preserved.
The existing features have also been improved and optimized as well. 3D-LUT conversion speeds, Log-Lin conversions and Alpha Channel support have all seen performance gains. Alpha Channel support has also been expanded to support 10-bit RGBA images that are often exported from packages such as Shake.
Lastly, the Demo Mode for Final Cut Pro has now been implemented. People that wish to check out Final Cut Pro functionality before buying can now do so. All features of Cineon/DPX Pro for Final Cut are available to try.
The Cineon file format is a widely used digital film image format which was developed by Kodak for the Feature Film industry . The DPX digital image file format was developed by SMPTE and is used heavily in the Feature Film and High Definition broadcast industries for production.
