News : Indy Video Podcast Continues to Race Ahead

Last Updated: August 7, 2007 9:15 pm GMT
(Indianapolis) Now in its second season, the video podcast "Doing Indy" continues to uncover the best kept secrets in Indianapolis.

Produced by the Indianapolis Convention & Visitors Association, "Doing Indy" has been nominated for the 2007 Podcast Awards in two categories, "Best Produced" and "Best Video Podcast."

"It is an honor to again be nominated for this prestigious award," said Seth Hancock, video marketing manager and producer for the Indianapolis Convention & Visitors Association. "From celebrity interviews to new exhibits and events around the city, the show helps visitors find out what's new, hot, and fun."

Hancock not only sparks the creative end of the show, he also hosts, directs, produces and post-produces the weekly podcast. In addition, all of the official tourism television commercials are spearheaded by the once improv comedian.

In 2006, "Doing Indy" was a runner-up in the 2006 People's Choice Podcast Awards for the travel category, behind only Mickey Mouse and Disney World's podcast.

Based on its research, Indy became the first CVB in the nation to produce a weekly video podcast. The premier episode of "Doing Indy" served as a city fan guide for the more than 80,000 visitors in Indianapolis for the NCAA Men's Final Four in 2006.

The success of "Doing Indy" continues to grow, with more than 20,000 viewers downloading the podcasts on a monthly basis, compared with 2,100 in April 2006. Consistency matters, with a new episode posted every Wednesday morning.

The People's Choice Podcast Awards recognize the best podcasters in the world by allowing the viewers, listeners and other podcasters to vote for their favorite. Now through August 11, folks can vote for "Doing Indy" once every day by clicking here ( http://www.podcastawards.com ). Award recipients will be announced during the Podcast Expo on September 28.
