(Santa Barbara, CA -- August 28, 2007) GLUE TOOLS releases Cineon/DPX Pro v2.5.7 with 10-bit Uncompressed YUV support, and Export UI Enhancements.
Glue Tools has released v2.5.7 of its Cineon and DPX QuickTime Components. This new release now includes direct support for 10-bit Uncompressed YUV 422 codecs in Final Cut Pro. This development greatly improves loading and playback speed for Final Cut Pro users. By performing the conversion inside the Cineon/DPX Pro QuickTime components, several internal steps that QuickTime normally performs are eliminated, improving speed and ensuring 10-bit image compatibility. Conversion from 10-bit YUV is also supported during the export process in Final Cut Pro. Cineon or DPX frames can be exported directly from YUV based projects, with no color change or gamma shifting.
The software has also had a number of fixes and improvements with the System Preferences and the Export Settings interfaces. Presets can now be created for digit padding and starting frame numbers from within the System Preferences Pane. When performing a Cineon or DPX export, these presets are read and used as defaults for every export. So, if your facility normally uses 7 digit padding, starting on frame zero, you can create that preset for every sequence you export from Final Cut Pro.
Leopard compatibility testing is currently underway, and this version of the components works well with the current developer previews of the new OS. The transition to Apple's new MacOS X 10.5 will be smooth for existing owners of the Cineon/DPX Pro Components.
This upgrade is free to existing 2.5.x owners.
The Cineon file format is a widely used digital film image format which was developed by Kodak for the Feature Film industry . The DPX digital image file format was developed by SMPTE and is used heavily in the Feature Film and High Definition broadcast industries for production.
