News : Red Jet Films Shoots Numerous Projects Overseas with JVC ProHD Cameras

JVC equipment: GY-HD250 and HD100 Series

(October 11, 2007) Based in Seattle, Red Jet Films shoots and produces numerous documentaries and corporate videos a year. Shooting for high-profile clients such as Microsoft, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the National Democratic Institute requires a professional and reliable camera, which is why Sue Feil-Erwin chose JVC.

"It's the only HDV camera that records 24p on tape and the only HDV camera that has a true interchangeable lens. It works like a real broadcast camera," said Feil-Erwin.

While the camera's professional controls initially sold Feil-Erwin, the camera's lightweight feel, durability and ability to maintain power for a long period of time that really caught her eye. According to Erwin, "Even with the matte box and the FireStore, the camera is relatively light and easy to handle holding on my lap in the back of a Land Rover in the remote, roadless areas of Africa. Beyond this, unlike BetaCam and VariCam, the GY-HD250 and HD100 series cameras use relatively little power. I can shoot all day long on one, sometimes two Anton Bauer dionic batteries. That's a huge benefit when you're in the remote regions of a third-world country and AC to charge can be two to three days away. In addition, JVC's cameras held up remarkably well in extreme heat and humidity."

Red Jet Films travels the world to shoot a variety of projects overseas using JVC ProHD cameras. They recently traveled to Jamaica and the Grand Caymens to shoot for SeaMobile, a dominant global service provider of at-sea and remote location communications and content services. They also completed a music video shoot in Ecuador for Big Daddy Weave, a World Vision artist associate, which will be used during concerts to encourage Big Daddy Weave's audience to become a child sponsor.

"We've shot in places where heat and humidity are always an issue such as Uganda, Mozambique, Tanzania, South Africa and Chile. And JVC's cameras held up remarkably well in such extreme conditions," added Feil-Erwin.
