News : Highpoint Updates Rocketraid 3520 With Intel IOP341 To Support Apple Macintosh Systems

Last Updated: December 12, 2007 4:28 pm GMT
(Milpitas, California--December 12, 2007) HighPoint Technologies updates the RocketRAID 3520 based on the Intel® IOP341 I/O Processor to support Apple Power Mac G5 and Mac Pro systems with Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or 10.5 (Leopard)

The RocketRAID 3520 is an x8 PCI-Express 8 port RAID controller featuring the high performance Intel® IOP341 I/O Processor. The RocketRAID 3520 takes advantage of Intel’s highly integrated, high-performance system on a chip. The Intel® IOP341 I/O processor incorporates an energy-efficient Intel XScale® processor, which provides open, full-function IOP based RAID, including enhanced hardware acceleration for the RAID 5 and RAID 6 feature sets to deliver maximum throughput speeds of over 600MB/s for READ / WRITE operation. The unprecedented throughput performance of the RocketRAID 3520 eliminates the bandwidth bottlenecks created by the explosion of digital video and audio content.

The RocketRAID 3520 connects up to 8 internal SATA hard drives and supports advance RAID levels (0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and JBOD). Users can create RAID arrays up to 8-Tbyte (terabyte) of high performance storage that will be protected from drive failures. Software support for Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) and 10.5 (Leopard) is available in one universal software package that includes the HighPoint RAID Management web GUI to configure, manage and monitor storage RAID arrays.

HighPoint continues to be the industry leader in offering SATA RAID solutions for Apple Macintosh systems. With a complete product line of internal, external and hybrid SATA RAID controllers along with industry standard connectivity and HighPoint proprietary RAID technology.
