News : Digital Vision Appoints Altec International as New Distributor for China and Hong Kong

Last Updated: January 10, 2008 4:35 pm GMT
(Stockholm, Sweden--January 10, 2008) Digital Vision, the premier supplier of picture enhancement systems for film and television post-production, announces the appointment of Altec International as its new distributor in China and Hong Kong. Coupled with the company’s recent opening of a brand-new Hong Kong office, the Altec appointment highlights the growing traction that Digital Vision is achieving in the Chinese market.

“We are thrilled to be appointed by Digital Vision and eager to invest our time and resources to market their products in Hong Kong and China. We feel there is a tremendous potential for them in this region,” states the company’s Andy Kwok.

“It is very exciting in the market here right now,” he continues. “The TV stations in Hong Kong are going into HD production and digital broadcast by year end, whereas China has picked up the pace much earlier already. China will soon have the second largest number of digital cinemas in the world, therefore they are eager to move into DI workflow and convert their films to digital assets in order to cater for the market. We can say that the digital storm has started and companies here are transforming their workflow and equipping themselves to move with or ahead of it.”

Kwok says that Film Master and DVNR are attracting significant interest and positive feedback in the region already. “For Film Master, the sophisticated colour correction toolset as well as the panel design really fit the ergonomics of colourists, while the unique multi-track timeline and full utilisation of multi- core CPUs allow users to optimise their grading time rather than wait for result to be calculated,” he says. “As to the DVNR system, our customers confirm that it is truly an incomparable product after they have done some testing by themselves. The scalable processing modules supporting 2k/HD/SD cater the needs of different demands and the flexibility of time-based licensing allow users to just invest whatever they need to use.”

"We are delighted to be working with such a proactive and respected partner in the region," says Peter Charles, Digital Vision's Sales Director for the Asia Pacific region. "The company has hit the ground running and already sold its first DVNR to Centro. I'm confident it will be the first of many Digital Vision products sold and supported by the Altec team."
