(LOS ANGELES, California--January 24, 2008) Solventdreams, LTD, a leading post-production facility for cutting-edge digital video productions, utilizes a JetStor SATA 516F with MetaSAN software to expand the scope and efficiency of its operations.
“The JetStor has been an invaluable asset for us,” says David Davidson, Solventdreams's Managing Director. “It has allowed us to quickly access and transfer files among our workstations, and this has been ideal for streamlining the editing process, working with uncompressed HD video, and implementing color correction.”
AC&NC's JetStor SATA 516F is 16 bay RAID array that implements Fibre Channel connections to provide lightning-fast 4Gbit/second access to digital assets. Solventdreams uses the JetStor as the hub for its Storage Area Network (SAN) managed by Tiger Technology's MetaSAN software. MetaSAN allows Davidson and other members of his Solventdreams team to simultaneously read and write to the RAID from any computer at their facility.
This network was essential to Solventdreams's recent work on the promotional campaign for United Artist's political drama, Lions for Lambs, starring Tom Cruise, Meryl Streep, and Robert Redford. Solventdreams relied on the JetStor and MetaSAN for capturing HD footage, applying color grades, and supervising online editing for the project. “When you're working with the large file size of high-definition video, you need a fast and reliable way to access these files, play them back, and work with them on a number of different computers,” says Davidson. “The JetStor and MetaSAN are really the perfect solution for this.”
Solventdreams has also used its MetaSAN-powered array to efficiently work on a variety of independent feature films. The company recently completed post-production on The Cursed, a supernatural thriller about shadowy forces at work in the American South, Pornstar, a tragicomedy that wryly examines the lives of people caught up in Southern California's adult entertainment industry, and Em, a romantic portrait of a troubled young woman and the man who struggles to keep her.
