News : Animal Logic Migrates To Nuke

Award-winning studio adopts Foundry software for VFX & animation pipeline

Last Updated: March 20, 2008 5:50 pm GMT
(London, UK--March 20, 2008) Leading software developer The Foundry today announced that Animal Logic has joined its rapidly growing Nuke customer list. The award-winning visual effects company had been reviewing its existing Fusion/Shake pipeline and decided it would like to migrate to a single solution.

Extensive product evaluations ensued with Nuke being revealed as the solution that was the best fit for Animal Logic’s VFX and animation pipeline.

Since taking on Nuke, Animal Logic’s multi-license purchase is one of The Foundry’s largest to date and is certainly a powerful addition to the growing Nuke community.

“Animal Logic has long been a customer of The Foundry’s and we are delighted they decided to adopt Nuke as such an integral part of their workflow,” commented Dr Bill Collis, CEO at The Foundry. “Nuke has come on in leaps and bounds over the last months, but there is still much to be done, and with Animal Logic joining us it adds another, very experienced, ear and voice to our research and development process, which can only serve to further improve Nukes evolution.”

Xavier Desdoigts, director of technical operations at Animal Logic commented “We had reached a point where we needed to reconsider our existing workflow. It’s not an easy decision to make but there’s never going to be a good time to change such a core component of your pipeline. We started evaluating a number of different solutions at the tail end of last year, and although The Foundry hadn’t implemented the new user interface and some of the other new things at that stage, it was already feeling right for us. Nuke is so fast and efficient, the transition from 2D to 3D is really quite slick and we’ve not yet come across anything that has made it fall over. Although there is a learning curve, the prospect is more daunting than the actual task and everyone got up to speed fairly quickly without any major issues, so all in all the implementation of Nuke has so far, been a pretty smooth ride.”

The Foundry will be demonstrating Nuke 5 at NAB 2008 on booth SL8605. Visitors to the show will also be able to see the recently launched Furnace 4 plug-ins for Nuke and eyeon Software’s Fusion, a special preview of Furnace for Apple Final Cut Pro and a technology demonstration of its stereoscopic VFX tools.
