(Madison, Wisconsin--August 19, 2008) ACIDplanet.com, one of the Internet's premier sites for user-generated music, video content, computer-based recording and remixing tools, has unveiled a contest to develop a music remix of Johnny Cash's debut single "Cry, Cry, Cry, " later included on Cash's debut album, His Hot and Blue Guitar.

The winner of the contest, developed by Sony Creative Software, Remix magazine and Compadre Records / Music World Music, will have his or her song released digitally in conjunction with the upcoming Johnny Cash Remixed album being released by Compadre Records / Music World Music.

"Johnny Cash is one of the great American music legends who still influences music today," said Dave Chaimson, vice president of global marketing for Sony Creative Software. "Releasing the winning track to coincide with the new Johnny Cash Remixed album recognizes the level of creative talent within the ACIDplanet.com community, which I am sure will be eager to add a progressive digital dimension to Cash's first single through the remix contest."

A tribute to the legacy of an American music icon whose work has touched every contemporary genre, Johnny Cash Remixed will be released on October 14. It features bold new interpretations of Johnny Cash classics from top music remixers and producers that have infused the original master recordings with the sounds and technology of modern music styles. Johnny Cash Remixed includes a performance from Snoop Dogg as well as other renowned electronic musicians.

The ACIDplanet.com community will select the top 25 tracks from the entries submitted to the Johnny Cash remix contest. A panel of judges from Remix magazine and John Carter Cash, son of Johnny Cash and executive producer of the Academy Award-winning film Walk the Line, will select the grand prize winner.

Contestants can download the components to the Johnny Cash remix contest starting today and must submit their remix entry by midnight October 5, 2008. ACIDplanet remix contestants can use Sony Creative Software's free ten-track ACID XPress loop-based music production software, Sony's ACID Music Studio, ACID Pro or any music creation tool of their choice to create their remix.

All Johnny Cash Remix contest finalists will receive a free one-year subscription to Remix magazine. The winner will receive a membership to Audio Insider, which offers access to the industry's most extensive network of editorial resources, direct from the teams at Mix, Electronic Musician and Remix.
