News : Singapore Production Company Infinite Frameworks Counts on da Vinci 2K Plus

Last Updated: November 6, 2008 5:32 pm GMT
(Coral Springs, Florida--November 6, 2008) da Vinci Systems®, LLC, a subsidiary of JDS Uniphase Corporation, today announced that Asian media and entertainment producer Infinite Frameworks (IFW) continues to expand its business using a da Vinci 2K Plus™ color image enhancement system at its Singapore facility.

The 2K Plus system is being deployed for a variety of projects including the feature film "My Magic," directed by Singapore's Eric Khoo, which earned a 15-minute standing ovation when it was screened in contention for the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2008. Another IFW project is the popular reality show "The Contender Asia," with 15 episodes broadcast to millions of viewers on Asia's AXN earlier this year.

Colorists at IFW particularly appreciate the 2K's PowerWindows™ tool, which performs multi-layered area isolation of primary and secondary corrections to enable refined sculpting of images, as well as its Vector Plus™, which affords a wide range of contrast for powerful and precise hue, saturation, and luminance qualification. Particular challenges in post-production for "The Contender Asia," an eight-camera show about muay thai boxing shot in HD, included managing extremes in color temperature during the fights. Colorists evened out these extremes using the 2K Plus secondary RGB balance feature.

"The da Vinci 2K Plus is powerful, proven technology that offers the multitude of tools that our demanding clients expect," said Freddie Yeo, IFW general manager. "At IFW, we count on the 2K Plus for the most challenging, high-profile projects. It's a no-brainer for us. In our part of the world, da Vinci is the brand to trust."

IFW is an 11-year-old media company with an experienced and talented international team offering production, post-production, and animation services with full HD capability from facilities in Singapore and on nearby Batam Island, Indonesia. IFW bought its first da Vinci system, the 888, at the time of its founding in 1997 and its current 2K Plus in 2004. Besides da Vinci, IFW relies on Avid® and Apple® Final Cut Pro® for editing, and Smoke, Inferno, After Effects®, and Combustion® for FX.

"Media production companies like IFW, with a wide range of services, know they can count on da Vinci," said Dean Lyon, marketing director for da Vinci Systems. "Whether the project is an award-winning art film like 'My Magic,' a popular television show, or a television commercial, da Vinci provides the color grading versatility required to complete their projects successfully."
