(Paterson, New Jersey--February 18, 2009) Medical Missions for Children (MMC), based at the St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, Paterson, NJ, today unveiled the new MMC-Panasonic HDTV Studios. Equipped with Panasonic multi-format HD studio and solid-state P2 HD cameras, point-of-view camera systems, and professional audio and video equipment, this state-of-the art broadcast facility will boost the charity’s efforts to eliminate the disparity of care that exists between developed and developing nations throughout the world.
MMC, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health of children and adults in underserved communities around the world, spearheads a unique combination of communications initiatives referred to as the Global Telemedicine and Teaching Network (GTTN). It comprises a distance medicine network in over 100 countries called the Telemedicine Outreach Program (TOP), a global satellite and IP TV network called the Medical Broadcasting Channel (MBC), the Global Video Library of Medicine (GVLM), Video Production Services (VPS), as well as the local Giggles Children's Theater in St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital.
MMC-Panasonic HDTV Studios at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center was designed and integrated by Panasonic Systems Solutions Company, with the broadcast equipment provided by Panasonic Broadcast & Television Systems Company. The studio is equipped to operate as a full broadcast facility, featuring a complete studio lighting grid and set with three Panasonic AK-HC931B HD multi-format studio cameras, an AK-HC1500G HD point-of-view camera and control system and an AG-HPX500 P2 HD shoulder-mount camcorder solid-state for studio or mobile use.

Additional production equipment includes four Panasonic 17" BT-LH1700W widescreen LCD monitors, an 8-channel Panasonic AV-HS400A HD/SD video switcher, a 16-channel audio mixer, and a 32-channel audio/video router. A total of eleven 50-inch and 42-inch Panasonic professional plasma units are installed throughout the facility.
In addition to a broadcast studio and set, the facility features an eleven-station control room, both private and semi-private editing suites, and a soundproofed audio recording booth. It will be utilized by MMC in support of its mission and will be available for rental use as a source of funds for the charity.
