(Cypress, California--February 26, 2009) FOR-A, a leading manufacturer of video and audio systems for the broadcast and professional video industries, will demonstrate the MBP-100CK Chroma Keyer at the 2009 NAB Show in Las Vegas, Nev., April 20-23, 2009 (Booth SU 3507). This is the first U.S. showing of the MBP-100CK, a compact, standalone HD/SD chroma keyer that was introduced at the IBC 2008 convention in Amsterdam last September.
This new chroma keyer represents the combination of FOR-A’s expertise in switchers and virtual studio technology. It features FOR-A’s unique new algorithm for chroma key processing, and has been designed to provide the highest quality of chroma key with the simplest operation. The unit offers internal video delay lines; two independent, multi-layering downstream keyers; and an internal still store, making the MBP-100CK ideal for the most demanding applications.
Designed with a focus on ease of use, the MBP-100CK includes an Auto Chroma Key function. Auto Chroma Key makes it possible for an inexperienced operator to produce clean chroma key effects by automatically adjusting the internal parameters. Further minimizing the need for manual fine tuning, the MBP-100CK expertly handles skin tones, wardrobe and hair color variations, which can present challenges for fine chroma keying in either green or blue backgrounds.
Edge colors can be changed by the reflection from the background color (spill color) or by chromatic aberration of the camera lens during chroma keying. The MBP-100CK features an Edge Color Replacement function and high performance filtering that ensures image quality even when keying difficult subjects. It eliminates the need to matte shrink or cut out edge color variations by automatically selecting the adequate color for the color changed area. The resulting keyed images blend with the background in a natural way.
A filtering function on the MBP-100CK eliminates flickering or noise caused by lighting conditions that appear around the edge of the chroma key area or in the shadows under the talent’s chin. Adjusting the lighting properly to remove this noise can be time consuming, and it is often difficult to achieve uniform results. The MBP-100CK’s filtering function handles that adjustment.
Additional standard features of the MBP-100CK are:
- 4:4:4:4 Internal Process
- HD/SD-SDI 4 inputs, 5 outputs
- Internal Delay Lines (8 frames)
- 2 Independent Layering Downstream Keyers
- Still Store Function
Remote control of the MBP-100CK is available through an optional MBP-12RU Remote Control Unit, which features a touch panel and button switches. The MBP-12GUI Control Software is included and works directly from the unit.
The MBP-100CK will be available from FOR-A in May of this year.
