(Los Angeles, California--March 13, 2009) The Digital Cinema Society (DCS), a nonprofit educational cooperative with an international membership nearing 4,000 will present two key seminars in March. The Saturday, March 21st event hosted by Band Pro takes an up-close look at the SI-2K digital cinema camera; “Panasonic Night” at TV Pro Gear will showcase a myriad of new Panasonic gear Thursday night, March 26th.
SI-2K at Band Pro on Saturday March 21st provides an opportunity to catch up with the camera that is receiving so much buzz after being used to capture major portions of Slumdog Millionaire, which won its DP Anthony Dodd Mantle, ASC, BCS both an Academy and ASC Award for Cinematography. Another Cinematographer, DCS member Ulf Soderqvist, who is an early adopter of this technology and highly experienced with the SI-2K will be on hand to share his knowledge; assisted by Band Pro’s Randy Wedick, as well as Sinclair Fleming and Martin Blochberger from Silicon Imaging. The seminar runs from 10:00 AM until noon at Band Pro, Burbank. Panasonic Night at TV Pro Gear Thursday evening March 26th will focus on a new lineup from Panasonic including the AG-HPX300 camcorder, BT-LH2550 LCD Monitor, and new P2 tools such as the AG-HPG20 Recorder. The AG-HPX300 300 delivers full 10bit 4:2:2 quality using AVC-Intra codec on P2, in a camcorder that has a full size shoulder mounted EFP feel at a price of less than $10K including the interchangeable Fuji lens. The seminar will also cover P2 workflow options with Apple’s Final Cut Pro and runs from 6:30-9:30 PM at TV Pro Gear, Glendale.
