News : Compact Primes Offer Versatility for Digital or Film Cameras

Last Updated: April 20, 2009 6:43 pm GMT
(NAB Las Vegas, Nevada--April 20, 2009) The Compact Primes are a new set of lightweight, affordable, high quality lenses for all digital or film cameras with a PL mount. Based on the award-winning optics of the Zeiss ZF still photography lenses, the completely new cine style lens housing and cine quality manufacturing process ensure that the Compact Primes deliver remarkable image quality, robust construction and well-designed ergonomics.

From use on the ARRIFLEX 235 to the newest crop of 35 format digital cameras, the Compact Primes show true versatility between different capture methods. The T* coating provides good flare suppression for rich blacks and high contrast. The modern lens design ensures low distortion, high resolution and excellent color rendition for sharp, punchy images.

The new, high precision lens housing has focus and iris gears in standard positions. All Compact Primes share the same dimensions, so lens changes are easy and fast; matte box and lens motors fall right back into place without having to be moved. The Compact Primes’ robust construction ensures reliable operation and a long working life. It houses the calibrated focus scale safely, making sure there is no wobble or play as can be observed when using still lenses with lens motors.

At about half the price of Ultra Prime lenses, the Compact Primes are a natural complement to affordable digital cameras. On the same token, the quality is so high they work well with ARRI/Zeiss Ultra Primes, Master Primes, Lightweight Zoom LWZ-1 and Master Diopters on any camera. Available July 2009, the Compact Primes are offered in T1.5 for 50 and 85mm, T2.1 for 28 and 35mm, T2.9 for 21 and 25mm and T3.6 for the 18mm focal length.
