News : Cinnafilm Signs Global Reseller Agreement with Professional Motion Picture Equipment World Leader, ARRI

Agreement Validates Cinnafilm’s Pioneering Achievements in the Area of Film and Video Post Production Technology

Last Updated: May 26, 2009 4:15 pm GMT
(Albuquerque, New Mexico--May 26, 2009) Cinnafilm, Inc., an engineering software firm dedicated to the development of powerful, reliable and intuitive film and video post production tools for creative professionals, today announced it has signed a multi-year, multi-million dollar global reseller agreement with ARRI, the world’s leading manufacturer of professional motion picture equipment.

The agreement gives ARRI the worldwide rights to market and resell Cinnafilm’s high-performance image processing software suite, leveraging its powerful GPU-based motion estimation engine, Pixel Strings™. Newly christened as ARRI Relativity, this groundbreaking software suite provides unprecedented levels of power and performance for professional-grade format conversion, retiming, film simulation, degraining and texture control—innovative technology co-developed with Digital Film Central—all on a single workstation. A technology launch event is scheduled to take place on June 2, 2009 in the Los Angeles area and will be open to press and industry professionals by invitation only.

As part of the agreement, Cinnafilm will provide ARRI with ongoing technical support and feature upgrades while continuing to advance its own independent research and development efforts.

According to Lance Maurer, Cinnafilm’s founder and CEO, the ARRI agreement kicks off an exciting stage in the company’s growth; reflecting its transition from burgeoning start-up to proven high-end engineering firm. “Our agreement with ARRI is the culmination of over six years of hard work and dedication by a small group of exceptional people, and we’re honored to partner with an industry leader,” said Maurer. “We started Cinnafilm in tech-friendly New Mexico with a vision of developing new approaches to old problems, and created software capable of unleashing artistic freedom while maintaining the highest degree of technical accuracy. Cinnafilm will remain committed to ongoing technology developments and we look forward to leveraging our robust Pixel Strings engine in new and exciting ways.”

“From the first demonstration, we understood the power of Cinnafilm’s Pixel Strings platform, and we’re excited about the opportunity to bring a family of technically advanced new software products to our post production customers,” said Glenn Kennel, CTO, ARRI, Inc.

The Cinnafilm software suite will be available through ARRI worldwide sales channels beginning June 1, 2009. For further information or to purchase, please email relativity@arri.com.
