(Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas--May 28, 2009) Colorist Rick Stephenson, a commercial specialist whose credits include Nike, Home Depot, Budweiser and many other national brands, has joined Filmworkers, Dallas.
Stephenson's arrival is actually a return, as he was previously on the Filmworkers staff from 1995 through 2006. He spent the past three years at And Transfer, Dallas, a company he co-founded.
"Rick is a very experienced and talented colorist, with a large and loyal clientele among agencies in Dallas and nationwide," said Filmworkers President Reid Brody. "We are very glad to have him back."
"Our clients are ecstatic about Rick's return. Many of them have worked with him for years," added Juanita Davila, Operations Manager of Filmworkers, Dallas. "It's a great opportunity to extend our current client relations and build new ones."
Stephenson said that his return to Filmworkers was motivated by changes in the advertising industry. "Today, commercial post production is no longer just about film," he said. "More and more commercials are being shot on digital formats. Filmworkers has made a commitment to staying current with the technology required to service projects that are shot digitally and that puts it in a strong position to continue to prosper in the years ahead."
Stephenson said that he was also attracted by the strength of Filmworkers' engineering support provided by chief engineer Chris Doros. "Today, more than ever, you need a talented engineer, because post production technology has become so complex and diverse," he said. "Filmworkers is in excellent hands with Chris."
Stephenson is among the most experienced colorists in the Southwest. He began his career in 1980 with the post house STS in Salt Lake City. He moved to Dallas in 1987 and joined Filmworkers in 1995. His recent work includes campaigns for Nike out of Wieden & Kennedy, Santa Monica, Home Depot out of the Richards Group, Dallas and Budweiser out of Waylon Advertising, St. Louis. He's also done work for ConocoPhillips, Michelob, Denny's and the Salvation Army. Additionally, Stephenson has experience in long-form, including the independent film Hat Trick.
"I've always enjoyed the diversity of my work and the creative freedom that I have," Stephenson observed. "And I'm very happy to be applying my craft again through Filmworkers. It's good to be back home."
