2G Burbank is located in Burbank’s Media District, in close proximity to studios and key production companies that utilize the 16 year-old company’s all-digital workflow to streamline the delivery of content.
2G’s decision to expand their operations to the San Fernando Valley was driven by a steady stream of client demand from the area. The opening of the Burbank facility afforded 2G the opportunity to design and build an all-fiber facility that, in conjunction with the studio’s all-digital Culver City location, perfectly positioned them to respond to the growing pressure on its customers to deliver content in new and different ways.

2G Burbank built an all-fiber infrastructure supporting a file-based workflow for all communications. This differs from the traditional post production “wired facility” infrastructure by approaching the process with a telecommunications framework that employs glass fiber, not copper lines. The glass fiber keeps content safe from electrical hits and maintains speed and integrity while in transit internally and externally. 2G Burbank can send as much data as customers require, as frequently as needed. When content arrives at 2G, it is captured and immediately pre-qualified to ensure that it is ready for the 2G team to begin their work. This pre-qualification process is a core differentiator for the company, whose competitors often complete analysis after work has begun or it is finished, which can carry issues or problems throughout the process. During the analysis, crucial metadata is captured for use throughout the content management process.
In building the innovative infrastructure at 2G Burbank, a number of key alliances and affiliations have been put into place that facilitate connectivity and delivery including the leading service providers in the industry like Sohonet. In addition, 2G participates in key industry organizations that are helping to set the standards for file-based data delivery, including the Video Services Forum and SMPTE.
