(Fort Lee, New Jersey--June 11, 2009) Remote Digital Media (RDM), a production services provider for corporate and network clients throughout the New York metropolitan area, recently constructed a tapeless HD flypack around the new FOR-A HVS-300HS HD/SD portable video switcher.

Since late March, the Montclair, N.J.-based company has used the 1 M/E switcher on productions for NBC, Food Network, YES Network, and MTV, among others.

According to RDM owner Sandor Bondorowsky, the compact HVS-300HS was chosen for the flypack system because of its versatility, rich feature set, and ease of operation. RDM’s client base calls for a wide variety of productions, some requiring the use of all 12 inputs for multiple camera configurations and additional playback sources. Plus, RDM often needs to react to tight deadlines and work in small spaces while accommodating multi-camera HD shoots and on-set projection.

“The HVS-300HS appealed to us because it is packed with features that ideally serve our customers in a variety of venues,” he said. “We’ve taken full advantage of its ability to support 1080i, 720p, and SD sources. The main unit’s space-saving design is always appreciated when equipment transport is part of the job. And we’ve received tremendous support and guidance from our FOR-A sales representative, Anthony Klick [FOR-A Eastern and Midwestern Regional Sales Manager.]”

RDM relies heavily on the HVS-300HS switcher’s HD inputs and multiple HD outputs as well as its built in 16-channel multi-viewer, which reduces production costs by eliminating the need for additional monitors. Bondorowsky also said the expanded AUX outputs with the SDI output option give RDM great flexibility for feeding monitors or projectors, as well as providing an AUX for an LD or producer.

“On more than one project, the FOR-A HVS-300HS helped us manage our monitor and projection needs simultaneously,” he explained. “For example, we have used an external AUX panel to equip various crew members with individual HD monitors, while a second AUX feeds the projector.”

In addition, the multi-format capability of the HVS-300HS allows RDM to mix non-synchronized sources without having to rely on external devices. “The HVS-300HS really outperforms other switchers we have used for about the same price,” he added. “Our clients have been very pleased with the results from our FOR-A-based HD flypack, and we appreciate the versatility and functionality of the HVS-300HS switcher.”
