(New York--June 16, 2009) Hyperbolic Audio co-owners, Julian Rebolledo and Sean Elias-Reyes, announced today that veteran mixer Steve Bucino has joined the staff of their full service audio post house. Launched just last year, Hyperbolic Audio is designed to provide the advertising, film, animation, television and radio arenas with a quality and cost-effective approach tailored to meet the needs of today’s market.
Bucino, who recently exited New York’s Tonic, brings a stellar reputation and top-caliber skills to his new post. His studio background also includes session work at Seattle’s Ironwood Studios, and two years at Water Music, where he engineered and produced numerous independent music projects, while honing his skills working alongside legendary engineers, such as John Agnello, Michael Barbiero and Bob Marlette. An accomplished musician, performer and writer, Steve brings a fresh perspective to his audio post work.
“Steve has the skills and the personality to be a top mixer,” noted Rebolledo. “We look forward to collaborating with him and continuing to exceed our current and future clients expectations”.
While at Tonic, Bucino worked on a number of short and long form productions, including CBS’ “48Hrs”, Discovery Channel’s “Cash Cab”, HGTV’s “Hidden Potential”, Nick Jr.’s “Dora the Explorer/Go Diego Go”, Disney’s “Johnny and the Sprites” as well as various projects for MTV, History Channel, A&E, PBS and TV Land.
Bucino's further 5.1 surround sound design and mixing contributions can be found on a diverse mix of prestigious feature films and documentaries, including Angelina Jolie’s production “A Place In Time” (Tribeca Film Festival), David Schisgall’s “Very Young Girls”(Toronto Film Festival, Showtime), Steve Kampman’s feature “Buzzkill” (Cannes Film Festival), and PBS’s “African American Lives 2”.
Advertising agencies and editorial houses, such as Kaplan Thaler Group, UniWorld Inc, Publicis, Young and Rubicam, J. Walter Thompson, The White House, Red Car, Rhino Editorial, Jump, Fluid, Indelible and Floating World have also called upon Steve’s talents.
Since joining Hyperbolic Audio’s staff, Bucino has worked on the sound design and mixing of a web campaign for Tinactin, as well as various projects for clients such as Nick Jr., Chanel, Walmart, and Aquafresh. Steve is currently busy sound designing and mixing a new animation pilot for Hyperbolic.
“Hyperbolic Audio is exactly the type of environment that I thrive on as a mixer. I love their personalized approach. Because it’s a boutique, you know that you are getting very personal attention on every level when you walk through the door. It’s spacious, yet intimate, with a level of collaboration that I’ve yet to come across at large corporate facilities,” notes Bucino. “ It’s also rare to find an audio house where the owners are as hands-on and involved in every project - but Julian and Sean do just that. Their professionalism and work ethic are a big part of what makes Hyperbolic Audio the kind of company that attracts high-end work and accomplished talent. I’m thrilled to be here.”
