News : Tiffen® Announces Version 2.0 Of Popular Photo Fx™ App For Apple® iPhone® Users

(Hauppauge, New York--August 26, 2009) The Tiffen Company, a Long Island based leading manufacturer and distributor of award winning photographic accessories, announced Version 2.0 of its popular Tiffen Photo fx™ creative effects software, for Apple® iPhone® and iPod Touch® owners.

Photo fx is the recipient of the prestigious DV Black Diamond Award for 2009. The definitive set of digital optical filters features simulations of many of the popular award-winning Tiffen glass filters including optical lab processes and photographic effects. “We can safely say without a doubt that Photo fx is the most comprehensive, feature rich photo app available for the iPhone and iPod Touch,” said Hilary Araujo, vice president, Marketing at The Tiffen Company.
Tiffen Photo fx™ 2.0 software is available on the Apple iTunes app store at a price of $2.99 and features 61 filters organized into 8 different filter groups and 615 presets.

The Tiffen Photo fx 2.0 allows users to enhance images from photos taken or stored on their iPhone or iPod Touch. It saves the new images for display later without overwriting the original image, to email friends, family and business associates. It includes a wide range of creative variations.
Photo fx v2.0 now includes two (paid) filter group options: Portrait fx and Color fx.
  • Portrait fx: includes 15 filters, 173 presets and the following filters: Bronze Glimmerglass®, Cool Pro-Mist®, Black Diffusion/FX®, Diffusion, HDTV FX®, Glimmergass®, Faux Film, Gold Diffusion/FX®, Smoque®, Soft Light, Streaks, Warm Black Pro-Mist®, Warm Center Spot, Warm Pro-Mist® and Warm Soft/FX®.

  • Color fx: includes 14 filters, 115 presets and the following filters: Bleach Bypass, Color Infrared, Cross Processing, Dual Grad, Fluorescent (FL-B/D®), Haze, Mono Tint, ND Grad, Nude/FX®, Sky, Strip Grad, Sunset/Twilight and X-Ray.

Other filters include: Temperature in Classic fx; Grain in Wild fx; Close-Up Lens, Depth of Field and Wide Angle Lens in a new Lens fx filter group; B&W Looks and Color Looks in Fun fx. Presets added for filters.

A home screen with icons for loading images, taking pictures, setting options and accessing Help was also included.

General features of the Photo fx include:
  • Choose from 61 filters organized into 8 different filter groups

  • Try one of the 62 different color or black and white film looks
  • Add realistic diffusion to photos using a library of 50 interesting textures
  • Choose from 27 grain presets to simulate popular motion picture film stocks
  • Add multiple filters without saving
  • Modify filters with sliders, on-screen controls or presets
  • Shake on the filter selection or preset screens to choose a random filter
  • Shake on the image editing screen to reset controls
  • Edit in portrait or landscape mode
  • Crop, Rotate, Straighten
  • Zoom into the image with the Close-Up Lens filter
  • Integrated Help
