(Newbury, UK--October 8, 2009) FlyingS3D, a brand new Paris, France-based post production facility dedicated to stereoscopic 3D, has purchased a Quantel Pablo 4K equipped with the Stereo3D option as the centrepiece of its Stereo3D workflow.
Set up by Audrey Bourdiol, FlyingS3D benefits from her many years of experience in the post and DI production facilities business. “The Pablo was the natural choice for us because as well as being a fine color correction system, it also offers full conforming, editing, compositing, effects, versioning and deliverables within a single system,” says Audrey Bourdiol. “That makes it a natural hub for our workflow, avoiding the time and cost wasted in moving material around between two or more systems for most of the work we need to do.”
For the occasions when interfacing with external systems is required, FlyingS3D has this covered too, having also purchased soft-Sam, which uses Quantel’s Virtualisation technology to enable third party systems to exchange media with the Pablo in whatever format they require.
The Pablo will sit in a dedicated viewing theatre equipped with a top of the line Christie projector, and FlyingS3D is also installing two Avid 3D offline systems. The whole facility will be built on a 10Gbps infrastructure.
FlyingS3D opens its doors in October 2009, and already has several projects lined up, including a documentary and two films.
