(July 16, 2013) K-Tek, innovative designer and manufacturer of mic booms and other audio gear, announces the revolutionary Nautilus™ Microphone Suspension Mount. This completely new patent-pending design offers maximum isolation with minimum compromise.

“We saw a need for a modern microphone suspension that not only isolates the microphone, but is lightweight, incredibly strong, and allows for quick microphone changes.” says K-Tek CEO Brenda Klemme Parker. “We came up with something simple, elegant, and it works!”

K-Tek’s Nautilus Microphone Suspension Mount earned several top awards when it premiered at NAB. Inspired by nature’s extended coil design, seen in many natural phenomena like the seashell, K-Tek’s Nautilus fits both short and medium length shotgun microphones, as well as smaller cardioid production microphones. Rather than depending on traditional elastic mounts or pop-in vertical clips, the Nautilus floats the microphone in a round spring design with horizontal clips that are over molded with rubber to achieve optimum isolation. K-Tek’s Spring Mounts™ are made from a new ultra-tough, proprietary composite material that is engineered to allow the microphone to hang suspended, yet has the strength to support the mic’s weight. The Spring Mounts slide along a T-bar shaped rail and lock in place. This allows for quick microphone changes and gives the sound person unprecedented versatility. For particularly heavy microphones, the user can add a third Spring Mount.
The Nautilus Suspension comes standard with 4 Spring Mounts. Two provide tighter tension for heavy microphones. The other two offer less tension to suit smaller, lightweight microphones. Special Spring Mounts to accommodate the MKH series of microphones will also be available soon. Additional Spring mounts will also be sold separately.

The Nautilus Suspension Mount is now shipping. All K-Tek equipment is made in the U.S.A. For further information on Nautilus or other products, contact: K-Tek, 1384-F Poinsettia Ave., Vista, CA 92081; Phone 760-727-0593; Fax 760-727-0693; http://www.ktekbooms.com
