One of the flagship venues in the heyday of Nashville’s Printer’s Alley district was Skull’s Rainbow Room, shuttered a few months after owner David "Skull" Schulman was tragically killed there in an attempted robbery in 1998, exactly 50 years after it first opened. Now, “Skull’s” is back, reopened by local restaurateurs who salvaged the venue’s original stage and other architectural treasures and are bringing it into the 21st century with a sound system from Bose Professional that leverages the unique capabilities of the Bose RoomMatch® and Panaray® loudspeakers, PowerMatch® amplifiers, and ControlSpace® DSP user interface.

Bose RoomMatch System Selected for Nashville-Area Hermitage Hills Baptist Church
Bose RoomMatch System Selected for Nashville-Area Hermitage Hills Baptist ChurchMiddle Tennessee church had a system designed for a more traditional style of music, and a RoomMatch® system was the right choice for the more contemporary worship music now featured at the church’s services
The Hermitage Hills Baptist Church, in Hermitage, Tennessee, had a problem that many houses of worship face: they knew they needed a new sound system to accommodate their transition to a more contemporary worship style, but most of the proposed solutions involved a center cluster with left and right array hangs. This would require moving the church’s projection screens, risking potentially expensive architectural changes and still-impeded sightlines.

Guitar Center Pro Guides Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church into Its Digital Era
Guitar Center Pro Guides Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church into Its Digital EraLarge Houston church acquires two Studer digital audio consoles with GC Pro managing a complex transaction from initial planning through installation and commissioning
The Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church has been among the Houston area’s largest houses of worship for over 60 years. However, through most of that time, it was also a very analog institution, with a pair of analog consoles used for front-of-house mixing and to route audio to congregation overflow and post-production areas. As of this year, however, Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church has entered its own digital age, with the acquisition of two Studer digital consoles, purchased through Guitar Center Professional (GC Pro), the business-to-business (B2B) division of Guitar Center providing highly customized service for professional accounts. GC Pro managed the sale of a Studer Vista 1 desk, which was installed earlier this year, used to route audio to a number of locations around the church campus. A Studer Vista V console intended as the church’s new FOH console was also installed and commissioned at the beginning of the summer. GC Pro’s Houston-based team of account managers and sales associates handled both transactions.

The Roland V-800HD Multi-Format Video Switcher Keeps Video Presentations at the CUE 2016 National Educational Conference Moving SeamlesslyTwo V-800HD units were used to manage a wide range of video formats for both LED and projection video for the event’s keynotes and other presentations, serving as critical communications hubs for the largest and oldest education technology conference in California, and among the largest in the U.S.
The CUE 2016 National Conference, which took place March 17-19 in Palm Springs, CA, is the largest education technology conference in California, and for over 35 years has been among the largest in the United States. It draws educators, technology coordinators, administrators and other education professionals who are looking to see how technology can more deeply support student achievement. They come from all over the country, and often with a dizzying array of video formats for presentations that take place one after the other. In an environment where presentations need to be seamless and the technology needs to be at the leading edge, yet work within budget, the Roland V-800HD Multi-Format Video Switcher is the required solution. The V-800HD is a true multi-format video mixer, not requiring input sources to be matched to output resolutions: every input has its own broadcast-quality scaler that can individually scale, stretch, crop and zoom each source as needed for the output resolution chosen.

Guitar Center Professional Helps Calvary Community Church Choose the Right Audio Console and Plan for Future AV Upgrades
Guitar Center Professional Helps Calvary Community Church Choose the Right Audio Console and Plan for Future AV UpgradesGC Pro helps Calvary Community Church find exactly the audio mixing platform they needed to handle live FOH mixing and recording
Launched in 1976 in a Hungry Tiger restaurant in Thousand Oaks, California, the Calvary Community Church moved into its 235,000-square-foot building on a 17-acre site in nearby Westlake Village in 1999 and have kept on growing ever since, now seeing an attendance of about 3,500 people each Sunday. One of the hallmarks of the church’s success has been careful management of capital costs, something that extends to its AV systems infrastructure. And just as the journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step, the road to replacing major sound and video platforms at the church began with the decision to replace its aging FOH console last year. For that, they enlisted the aid of Guitar Center Professional (GC Pro), the business-to-business (B2B) division of Guitar Center providing highly customized service for professional accounts, which was brought into the decision process at a point when the church leaders thought they had already come to a final decision.

The Tucker Theatre at Middle Tennessee State University’s Boutwell Dramatic Arts Building is the home of major music, dance, theatrical, and television productions, along with performances in intimate settings and a wide variety of award ceremonies, films, pageants, recitals, product launches, receptions, and meetings for the 20,000+-student campus in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Recently the facility upgraded its AV infrastructure, including a brand new Roland M-5000 OHRCA Live Mixing Console as the system’s centerpiece. Production Manager Justin Durham and Production Coordinator Andy Berg have put the M-5000 to good use on a variety of events so far, riding an easy transition from the Roland M-400 48-channel Live Mixing Console that had been at the theater’s FOH position for the last several years. Other Roland infrastructure remained in place – including five M-48 Live Personal Mixers and three S-1608 Digital Snake Stage Units.

Audio-Technica System 10 PRO Wireless Systems Chosen for the New First Southern Baptist Church Building in Pratt, Kansas
Audio-Technica System 10 PRO Wireless Systems Chosen for the New First Southern Baptist Church Building in Pratt, KansasAs the FCC spectrum auction approaches in April 2016, and this fast-growing church faces the loss of the 600-MHz frequency range, the Audio-Technica System 10 PRO system offers interference-free operation in the 2.4 GHz range with the features needed to keep the church’s message coming across loud and clear
The First Southern Baptist Church, a robust congregation of 800 people in Pratt, Kansas, recently had a new church building constructed by Builders for Christ, a non-profit that brings volunteers to construct church buildings for needy congregations. But what no amount of good will can accomplish is the replacement of the RF spectrum that’s being eroded as more of the UHF spectrum — the sweet spot for professional wireless audio systems — disappears as the FCC reallocates more of it for the growing cohort of mobile wireless devices. Brent Handy, Audio, Video, Lighting and Electronics Designer and Sales Consultant at Advanced Sound & Communication in Kansas City, MO, which provided much of the new church’s AV systems, says he initially tried to work with the church’s existing wireless microphone system, but found it was better suited to conference room applications and in any event wasn’t designed to be used in the quantities that the church staff needed them.
