Box office hit, Venom, from Columbia Pictures, was among the first films to have its sound work completed through Sony Pictures Post Production Services’ expanded facilities on the studio lot in Culver City. Supervising Sound Editor/Re-Recording Mixer/Sound Designer Will Files and his crew used a new theater-style sound design suite to create sound effects for the film, which stars Academy Award® nominated actor Tom Hardy as both the alien symbiote Venom and its human host, Eddie Brock.

The show’s first season is a feast for the imagination, consisting of 10 stand-alone, one-hour episodes, each based on a different Philip K. Dick short story and each with a different cast, director and writer.

Sony Pictures Post Production Services has added a mix stage dedicated exclusively to IMAX. The new stage, which is equipped with a 24-fader Avid S6 mixing console, is the only dub stage on the West Coast that uses IMAX loudspeakers and meets specifications for mixing in its immersive IMAX 12.0 sound format. The room will be used to prepare 2D and 3D theatrical features and trailers for release to IMAX® theaters worldwide.

Post-production work for Sony Pictures Animation’s "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2," the much anticipated sequel to the 2009 hit, was completed by Sony Pictures Digital Productions (SPDP) on the Sony Pictures lot in Culver City. SPDP talent oversaw sound editorial, sound mixing, color grading and editorial finishing for the animated movie, working alongside their counterparts from Sony Pictures Imageworks (SPI) and Sony Pictures Animation , who created the film’s final animation. It’s the latest project to utilize an integrated workflow linking production, animation, visual effects and post production operations on the Sony lot. "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2" released nationwide in 2D and 3D on September 27th.

The newly-restored, 50th Anniversary Directors Cut of David Lean’s 1962 masterpiece Lawrence of Arabia took home the award for “Best Archive Restoration/Preservation Title” at the tenth FOCAL International Awards held May 2nd in London. The 4K restoration of the film was completed last year by Sony Pictures Entertainment under the direction of Grover Crisp, EVP of Asset Management, Film Restoration and Digital Mastering for SPE. Crisp also received a special, individual award for “Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Film Restoration and Preservation.”
