The American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) has announced the honorees for the 31st annual ASC Awards for Outstanding Achievement. Edward Lachman, ASC; Ron Garcia, ASC; Philippe Rousselot, ASC, AFC; and Nancy Schreiber, ASC will be recognized for their contributions to the art of cinematography at the organization’s awards gala on February 4, 2017, at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland. Lachman will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. Garcia will be bestowed with the Career Achievement in Television Award. Rousselot earns the International Award, and Schreiber will take home the Presidents Award.

The American Film Institute is proud to announce that the following AFI Conservatory alumni have been nominated for four 2016 Film Independent Spirit Awards today: ANOMALISA co-director/producer Duke Johnson (AFI Class of 2006) for Best Feature and Best Director; SPOTLIGHT producer Steve Golin (AFI Class of 1981) for Best Feature; and ADVANTAGEOUS director/writer Jennifer Phang (AFI Class of 1999) for the John Cassavetes Award. Armadillo,' 'Better This World,' 'Enemies of the People,' 'Last Train Home' Nominated for Best Documentary
POV (Point of View), public television's premier showcase for independent documentaries, has received 16 nominations in the 2012 News & Documentary Emmy® Awards, an all-time high for the series celebrating its 25th season on PBS. The nominees were announced today by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. POV came in second to CBS' "60 Minutes" in nominations. Four POV films, Armadillo, Better This World, Enemies of the People and Last Train Home, were nominated for Best Documentary. Four other films received nominations: the feature-length Mugabe and the White African and Where Soldiers Come From and the shorts Flawed and Miss Devine (featured in the StoryCorps Animated Series). PBS received 37 nominations in total.
