(Las Vegas, Nevada - NAB Show, April 18, 2005) Telestream, the leading provider of media encoding and delivery solutions, today announced that Sorenson Media® has selected its highly recognized Flip4Mac™ digital media tools for the Macintosh to provide optional Windows Media encoding and import support for the new Sorenson Squeeze® 4.1 Compression Suite Macintosh version.
“We are pleased that Sorenson Media, a recognized leader in video compression technology, has selected our Flip4Mac components to provide the much-needed Windows Media encoding and import capability for their Macintosh customers,” said David Heppe, Telestream senior vice president of sales and marketing. “We’re excited to extend our reach to the Sorenson Mac community and through that to also provide the solution to their Avid Mac users.”
Flip4Mac WMV Studio and WMV Studio Pro from Telestream provide optional plug-in components for Sorenson Squeeze 4.1, providing Windows Media import, playback and either standard or high definition encoding for Macintosh users. Until now, viewing Windows Media files on a Mac required downloading a separate player, importing Windows Media for editing was not possible, and until the recent introduction of the Flip4Mac WMV Export Component, making Windows Media 9 files was challenging.
“Our Mac customers have been asking for WMV encoding support for a long time,” said Randon Morford, Squeeze product manager for Sorenson Media. “Through the use of Telestream’s Flip4Mac WMV components we’re excited about Sorenson Squeeze now being the first cross-platform encoding application on the market to support Windows Media as well as many other formats.”
A free trial version of Flip4Mac WMV Studio is now included with all Sorensen Media Squeeze 4.1 Compression Suite Macintosh shipments. Flip4Mac WMV Studio (US$99) and Flip4Mac WMV Studio Pro (US$179) are available for purchase directly through the trial application. Online purchase and additional product information are also available from Sorenson Media at www.sorenson.com. The integrated solution is being demonstrated at this week’s NAB show in Sorenson Media booth SL1210H.
