RAID Incorporated Enhances iSCSI Portfolio

(Lawrence, MA - October 4, 2005) RAID Incorporated, today announced it has extended its commitment to the iSCSI market with additions to their ORION and Phoenix product lines. ORION supports up to 3Gb/s Serial ATA (SATA) RAID storage and up to 32 iSCSI instances while delivering resilient, advanced data protection features that proactively monitor drive status and dramatically reduce RAID rebuild time to help ensure uninterrupted data availability.

The ORION i-Class offers dual host ports, 12 or 15 hot-swappable drive bays in a rack-mount chassis and supports up to 6 terabytes (TB). The system combines the benefits of SATA-2 drives with Native Command Queuing (NCQ) and the simplicity and affordability of iSCSI. High performance, hot-swap SATA-2 drives provide an exceptional platform for low-cost, high-density storage with proven reliability and unparalleled price per gigabyte. The iSCSI host interface provides simple SAN and network connectivity support. The ORION's performance delivers a strong showing of up to 350MB/sec sustained throughput.

In addition, RAID formally announced the addition of its Phoenix iSCSI product which is geared towards application level implementations. The Phoenix supports dual controllers each with (2) 1Gbt iSCSI ports. The controllers can be configured independently for performance based applications or in a redundant mode for high availability. Phoenix iSCSI solutions have the same software suite available on the current Phoenix product line which includes replication services, block-level snapshot, intelligent capacity management, volume copy and StorageWatch® for superior business continuity.

"RAID has been shipping iSCSI products since 2002 so IP based storage solutions are not new to us” stated Greg Morris, CEO of RAID. Morris continued, “By adding entry and mid range solutions for specific vertical / OEM / and application needs we now feel that we can reach a greater subset of the market for our customers and partners.”

In addition, RAID is set to announce an appliance with (8) 1Gbit port iSCSI, (4) 10Gbit iSCSI connections which will be geared towards even higher performance applications and grid initiatives. RAID will also expand iSCSI support on their Fusion™ NAS/SAN product line.

IDC recently announced that the iSCSI storage market will be one of the largest growth sectors of the storage market for the remainder of the decade. “Storage appliances and solutions which address multiple technologies and can be managed via a single source is something that our customers have been asking us to deliver,” stated Marc DiZoglio, EVP of RAID. “Our Fusion gateway line of products enables users to seamlessly integrate SAN, NAS, and IP storage in to a virtual and easy to manage pool of data.
