Major Upgrade to Automation Application Offers Enhanced Metadata Support for Post Facilities

(Munich, January 26, 2006) IRIDAS, the leader in playback and automation technologies for postproduction, today announced the release of SequencePublisher 2006. The new version of this powerful batch-processing and file conversion software provides significant new capabilities for postproduction facilities who want to automate complex file conversion work. This allows them to free up human resources for creative work, rather than having to spend time on repetitive manual tasks.

SequencePublisher 2006 is available for the Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux platforms. The command-line-based application allows for automated batch processing so that file conversion, such as the creation of Digital Dailies can be done in the background without requiring monitoring. Parameters are entered and SequencePublisher does the rest.

Along with a proven set of file conversion tools, SequencePublisher 2006 adds support for LUTs and SpeedGrade .look files so that color data can be applied to new renders or QuickTimes for remote review - thus integrating SequencePublisher directly into IRIDAS' end-to-end color pipeline. SequencePublisher 2006 also includes support for metadata plug-ins, allowing the application to access external databases or production management systems; support for new file formats including DPX 2.0, OpenEXR, YUV, and others; and a new Profile Editor for fine-tuning output settings.

"SequencePublisher is now fully integrated into our facility and on our render farm," said Anthony Kramer, VFX Coordinator at Digital Dimension, a leading VXF house in LA. "We use it all day long. Whenever any of our artists renders a comp, we have SequencePublisher create a QuickTime at the same time."

SequencePublisher 2006 also offers significantly enhanced text capabilities via customizable burn-in templates. "What SequencePublisher has allowed us to do is package the process of stamping with the transcoding," explained Kramer. "Now we can have a different stamp on each QuickTime movie we make; the QuickTime the client sees can have different information in it than the QuickTimes we use internally. When we receive new scans for a show, we can stamp the work area right on the QuickTime proxy and it can be different for every show."

"SequencePublisher has been used for years now, often together with FrameCycler DDS for creating dailies," said Steve Crouch, Director of IRIDAS USA. "We're seeing a lot of new interest right now. Facilities really want the savings in terms of time and human resources which this type of automation offers."

SequencePublisher 2006 for Mac OSX, Windows 2000/XP, and Linux is available immediately from IRIDAS and IRIDAS USA. Pricing is $499 per seat with a site license option available. For more information contact IRIDAS (international) at +49 89 330 35 142, IRIDAS USA at (818) 951-8927, or email

IRIDAS pioneered desktop film-resolution playback in 2001. Its FrameCycler products are now the industry standard for frame-based image review. In 2003 IRIDAS introduced the first non-destructive color correction application. Today SpeedGrade and FrameCycler provide a complete, end-to-end pipeline for uncompressed content and color data. IRIDAS' applications are used by most major animation and post-production houses including Warner Bros. Feature Animation, Industrial Light and Magic, The Moving Picture Company, ReelFX, Lowry Digital (DTS), and many others. IRIDAS is an independent, privately held company headquartered in Munich, Germany. For more information visit
