Media Activism–The Wellstone! Way

Join director Laurie Stern and producer Pamela Colby to learn how they made Wellstone!, a feature documentary about Minnesota's progressive Senator Paul Wellstone. Discover how to make media that moves an audience to action. Preview reels and discuss how to build a support network, host house parties, create a database and Web sites, as well as make the connections for pre- and post-production success. Alternative distribution methods, including pod-casts, satellite, and cable television will also be discussed. Participants are encouraged to bring current projects or proposals for review and strategic input.
Laurie Stern’s documentary work includes an Emmy Award¬–winning series from Ireland about Catholics and Protestants entitled, Two Nations Under God, and a series for and about rank and file Union member's entitled, From the Ground Up, Why Union. Pam Colby's work includes producing documentaries, The Unapologetic Life of Margaret Randall and Speak Truth to Power, and activist’s work with the Alliance for Community Media. She is currently on the board of the National Alliance for Media Arts and Culture.
