Qpixel Technology, an innovator in H.264 digital video compression audio and video encoder/decoder solutions, and NuCORE Technology, a developer of leading edge digital image processors for video and still cameras, have co-developed a low-power H.264-enabled two-chip digital camera reference design that allows capture, encoding and playback in a comprehensive, highly integrated solution for digital still and digital video cameras. It incorporates the industry's first low-power, H.264 standard definition Main Profile encode and decode ASSP (Application-Specific Standard Product) solution from Qpixel. The two companies are demonstrating the reference Product Evaluation Kit (PEK) to customers at PMA. The PEK combines NuCORE's CleanCapture(R) SiP-1280 image processor tightly coupled with Qpixel's latest H.264 codec delivering a high-quality, low-power video compression capability.

The PEK offers specific performance enhancements for small profile products including solid state memory DVD camcorders and digital still cameras that can record in H.264, or what Altabet refers to as the "flashcorder" market.
