(Mar 2006) Imagineer Systems, the UK-based developer of the innovative visual effects tools, is pleased to announce that they have been named the South East's Passport to Export Awards winner.
Imagineer Systems won the region's first ever Passport to Export Awards ceremony at Wentworth Golf Club last night -- to celebrate the most successful firms on UK Trade & Investment's Passport to Export initiative.
The firm, which has created innovative visual effects software for film, video and broadcast post production, was honoured for trebling its export sales in 18 months after joining Passport to Export.
The award ceremony, attended by over 150 guests, was the culmination of UK Trade & Investment Team South East's International Month 2006 -- which has seen over 500 small and medium-sized companies attend expert workshops across the region to improve their business skills and a highly successful trade visit to India.
Imagineer's team has developed a suite of powerful software tools for increasing productivity of tasks such as digitally removing wires, rigs, scratches, hair and so on from film and video sequences and have also recently launched a system for digitally placing products in videos, a new and exciting virtual approach to advertising through product placement.
After joining the 18-month Passport to Export initiative in November 2002, annual export sales have more than trebled -- and now makes up more than 80 per cent of total turnover. UK Trade & Investment supported the firm in completely rethinking its export strategy and established a reseller network in Europe, United States and Japan for advertising and film industries. It makes half its export sales in the United States, through almost £3,000 of Business Development Funding. It is now exploring new markets, including India, with UK Trade & Investment's support, with support from the post-Passport to Export initiative.
"This is a huge honour for us and recognises the hard work the whole company has put in over the last few years. Winning business overseas is always tough but the Passport to Export initiative has been vital in developing a successful and robust overseas strategy and doing business with the key players in our industry," said Managing Director Allan Jaenicke.
"All the winners demonstrate how small and medium-sized businesses can thrive overseas. They have made some impressive inroads in overseas markets in a very short time, demonstrating real imagination and drive," said International Trade Director Lewis Scott, who chaired the awards judging panel. "Their success highlights how much is achieved by firms on Passport to Export and how UK Trade & Investment's extensive global network of trade officials and contacts help them win new business overseas."
"The South East has massive potential for export success -- the most recent trade figures show it generated £31billion in overseas sales a year. But only four per cent of firms sell overseas so it is vital they seize all the support and advice they can."
