(Raleigh, NC, November 6, 2006) Inlet Technologies, a leading provider of advanced encoding solutions for digital media, today announced Spinnaker™, the first Inlet product line optimized specifically for live media delivery. This professional-grade solution offers best-in-class quality, for applications such as IPTV, web streaming, PEG, broadband TV and enterprise video.

Spinnaker’s capabilities will be demonstrated in Inlet’s booth, number 325, at the Telco TV Conference and Expo in Dallas, TX, November 6-8th.

“We developed Spinnaker to help service providers reach a broader audience through IP network infrastructures, and thus increase their revenue opportunities,” said Inlet CEO, Neal Page. “Unlike other encoders on the market, Spinnaker is optimized for content delivery to both TVs and PCs, and is compatible with IPTV middleware, set top box devices and traditional streaming architecture. With this versatility, Spinnaker offers broader distribution, for access to a greater numbers of subscribers – all for a very low cost of ownership.”

Spinnaker leverages encoding enhancements and an advanced toolset to deliver the bandwidth performance and the unique features necessary to provide a true broadcast experience via IP. Based upon Inlet’s proven encoding technology platform, Spinnaker supports resolutions ranging from web to SD to HD. Its unique toolset can deliver content that meets the regulatory requirements of new applications like IPTV; for example, Spinnaker is the only solution of its kind on the market that supports Closed Captioning for VC-1 advanced format video. Other unique features include Picture-in-Picture, Dolby Digital AC3 pass-through and multi-language support. Local, web and SNMP interfaces facilitate efficient device management, enabling the operator to control content remotely from anywhere on the network.

“Today, service providers use IP technology for video more broadly than ever before,” explained Peter Cresse, Inlet executive vice president of sales and marketing. “What is really special about Spinnaker is its real-time encoded output, delivered in the SMPTE VC-1 and Windows Media formats – ideal for networked media. Unlike many previous VC-1/WM9 encoders, Spinnaker is a robust solution, delivered in rack chassis configurations with full remote management capabilities, perfectly suited for telco operations or evolving Content Distribution Networks.”

Inlet’s demonstrations at the Telco TV event will also focus on VOD (video on demand) content creation, using the Fathom® encoding solution. Fathom’s VOD capabilities surpass any other advanced encoding solution on the market, with the toolset to support key requirements such as Closed Captioning (608, 708 and SAMI), subtitles and multiple languages. A perfect complement to an IPTV channel suite, Fathom VOD helps telcos provide a compelling new service offering.
