(CYPRESS, CA, March 28, 2007) FOR-A Corporation of America, a leading manufacturer of video and audio systems for the broadcast and professional video industries, will introduce its latest addition to the HANABI digital video switcher product family, the HVS-1500HS HANABI 1.5 M/E switcher, at NAB 2007 in Las Vegas from April 14-19 (Booth #C4234).
The HVS-1500HS is positioned between the HVS-1000HS 1 M/E and HVS-3800HS 2 M/E models, all three of which are compact, powerful switchers that support all major HD formats, as well as 525/60 and 625/50.
“The HVS-1500HS was designed specifically for live broadcast production and studio applications. While the HVS-1500HS is feature rich, it’s compact chassis makes it ideal for outside broadcast applications, such as mobile video units, remote productions, and portable studios or ‘Fly Packs,’ or any other application where space is at a premium,” said Mr. Susumu Hotta, President, FOR-A Corporation of America.
Competitively priced, the HVS-1500HS brings together all of the design ingenuity and capabilities inherent in the HANABI switcher product line. The HVS-1500HS offers three types of control panels: 16-button, 24-button, and rack mountable 12-button versions.
Like the other members of the HANABI switcher product family, the HVS-1500HS offers a high-performance DVE capable of real 3D DVE effects. This true 3D DVE has polygonal-based effects where video is literally wrapped around 3D shapes. The HVS-1500HS can also accommodate an optional two quad split-screen function.
Like the HVS-3800HS, the HVS-1500HS offers optional color correction functions that can be applied to the primary inputs and keyers; as well as optional process control, gamma corrections, and various clip functions. The parameters for these functions can be registered in the event memory to enable changes to be made in the course of sequences. The HVS-1500HS also offers four still stores, with the option to add two more
Within the 4RU main chassis, it’s possible to add memory cards and optional storage. An optional frame memory provides three seconds in each of its two channels to record HD, or 19 seconds in each of two channels to record SD video. With memory expansion, these recording times can be doubled.
“Like our other HANABI switchers, The HVS-1500HS offers exceptional price performance compared to competing switchers in its class,” Hotta added. “True to the FOR-A design philosophy, the HVS-1500HS provides customers with more capability for less money.”
The HVS-1500HS supports 16 inputs, which can be expanded by the addition of 12 inputs, two utility inputs, and one down-convert input. It supports 10 standard AUX output buses, with the option to add six additional AUX buses. Up to four channels can be installed for up-converter input or down-converter output. This enables up-converted signals to be assigned to the M/E, AUX, and keyer buses in the same way as external input and internal still stores. Six keyers, including four keyers, plus two downstream keyers, are standard features.
Anticipated shipping date for the HVS-1500HS is August of 2007.
