(TORRANCE, CA - July 17, 2007) MicroNet Technology, an innovator in storage solutions for the small and medium business market, today introduced the latest in its line of market-leading SMB NAS solutions, the PlatinumNAS™ Plus, combining best-in-class NAS file serving performance with an integrated iTunes™ music server to provide a high-performance, easy-to-use, centralized repository capable of storing up to 4 terabytes of digital content.

With the addition of embedded iTunes server software, MicroNet provides a turnkey SMB NAS solution that allows all Windows and Macintosh network users to easily access and view digital content, including product and company training content, podcasts and other digital media. SOHO customers will appreciate the simplicity with which they can now store and share content from a central, consolidated server instead of trying to locate files stored on individual PCs or struggling with the frustrations of a peer-to-peer networks when the user with the targeted files logs off the network.

The PlatinumNAS Plus is a next-generation NAS solution that integrates several key technologies to simplify the storage, management and sharing of all types of digital content for SMB and SOHO customers. By consolidating file and digital media services into a single, easy-to-use, web-based management utility it has never been easier for SMB customers to ensure that their critical data files are protected and highly-available to all network clients.

"The PlatinumNAS Plus is all about making life easier for SMB and SOHO users," said Joe Trupiano, director of marketing at MicroNet. "Instead of requiring multiple devices with multiple software applications and multiple management consoles, MicroNet has simplified the complexities of managing network data with installation wizards and easy web-based management making it a completely painless process to deploy and manage our NAS server across Windows, Mac and Linux platforms."

MicroNet's new PlatinumNAS Plus leverages the power of a highly efficient Intel IOP RISC network processor optimized for network file services and four independent SATA drive channels to deliver up to a 400 percent improvement in file serving performance compared to competitive SMB NAS products. The zero downtime design is based on four fully hot-swappable SATA disk drives with automatic RAID set rebuild and background RAID creation, ensuring that critical data is always available even in the event of a drive failure.

The advanced RAID controller in the Platinum NAS Plus supports RAID 0, 1, 5 and JBOD across two Gigabit Ethernet connections with support for multiple subnets. The PlatinumNAS Plus provides the most robust storage services of any SMB NAS device, including complete operating system independence with support for Windows -- including Vista, Linux and Mac OS X via the TCP/IP, SMB/CIFS, UPNP, FTP and WebDisk protocols. In addition, the PlatinumNAS Plus features native support for Active Directory service, allowing existing network permissions to be immediately applied to the NAS RAID storage.

The unmatched performance of the PlatinumNAS Plus is complemented with unprecedented versatility, including dual USB 2.0 expansion slots, enabling fast and easy capacity scalability with the addition of external USB-based storage such as MicroNet's Platinum, MegaDisk™ or Fantom™ Drives products. Simply plugging in any of those USB devices makes the additional storage capacity available as a network resource.

MicroNet's newest NAS solution also includes an unattended download manager with scheduler, enabling users to run bandwidth-intensive downloads, including FTP, HTTP and Bit Torrent files, during off-peak hours so as not to interfere with normal business operations.

In addition to its market leading performance, the PlatinumNAS Plus is one of the "greenest" NAS products on the market with an energy-efficient design that consumes 35 percent less power than a conventional file server. MicroNet has also built-in a scheduled power on/off feature that allows SMB customers without 24/7 operational requirements to automatically shut down the PlatinumNAS Plus unit during non-business hours to further reduce energy consumption and directly improve the bottom line.

The PlatinumNAS Plus is part of MicroNet's broad Platinum Series product line that also features Platinum RAID, and the Platinum External hard disk drives. All Platinum Series storage products feature a portable and lightweight aluminum design that is both stylish and flexible. MicroNet Platinum products are available from MicroNet, authorized VARs, and catalogue resellers worldwide, and are distributed through Ingram Micro.

The PlatinumNAS Plus is available immediately with prices ranging from $799 for a 1 terabyte configuration to $2999 for the high-end 4 terabyte model.
