HD World 2008 is being held October 15-16 in the Javits Convention Center in New York.

The NEXIO AMP™ advanced media platform is the first video server in the industry to offer 1080p support. NEXIO AMP™ 2.0, the powerful new version of the award-winning advanced media platform, supports four HD channels (including two ingest channels) and runs the first software-enabled NEXIO AMP media applications, which include integrated channel branding, audio track manipulation and multiviewer I/O monitoring. Also new are file-based workflow enhancements for NEXIO™, including integrated codec support for the P2®/AVC-Intra™ and XDCAM® HD 35/50 formats.
Harris has introduced enhancements to the NEXIO storage area network (SAN), including tripling of storage capacity to 72 TB; a boost in near-line storage to 1.5 PB; and a new Media Host SAN architecture, which employs Gigabit Ethernet connectivity to dramatically expand the number of channels that can be supported by a single SAN.
Comperio™ is a digital asset management system designed for the management and tracking of content preparation workflows. Comperio™ extends the ability to ingest and prepare media for playout when integrated with ADC™ and D-Series™ automation. Managing multiple versions and formats of HD content, Comperio™ provides rich browsing functionality and powerful search tools to locate and preview content in low-resolution, and move the corresponding high-resolution content from the archive to a playout destination.
The Inscriber® G7™ uniquely combines the functionality of multiple products with innovative graphics technology to provide a robust, high-performance 3D graphics creation and HD/SD playout solution with advanced workflow capabilities. The G7™ integrates many enhanced features such as standard DVE capability, HD video capture and an integrated media store for managing and playing stills, clips and CG pages. It also simultaneously runs custom graphic applications created using the new RTX.NET programming interface. Combined with the Inscriber MOS option for newsroom graphic control and the Connectus™ system for centrally managing and distributing graphic resources across the local network or the Internet, the G7™ provides a complete, powerful on-air graphics solution.
The Harris® NetVX™ video networking platform, which includes MPEG-4/H.264 and MPEG-2 encoding modules, offers complete solutions inside and outside the plant to encode, multiplex and transport broadcast-quality SD and HD video for multiplatform delivery services. The NetVX ENC-A21 MPEG-4/H.264 video encoder now features IP-controlled statistical multiplexing to more efficiently distribute SD and HD video within a single NetVX chassis or across multiple frames across the broadcast facility. Leveraging the value and versatility of its industry-leading 6800+™ core processing platform, the IPA6800+, a two-channel, bidirectional IP video gateway that links traditional ASI-based video plants with modern Gigabit Ethernet networks; and the MFD6800+ MPEG-2/H.264 multiformat decoder module, which provides the flexibility of ASI or IP-based MPEG-2 or H.264 SD or HD decoding.
The industry’s first 3 Gb/s embedded audio/video synchronizer, the SFS6800+ provides video and audio synchronization and delay for SD-SDI (and optionally HD-SDI and 3 Gb/s), integrated audio and video proc amps, support for four-AES audio embedding, de-embedding and insertion/removal of Dolby® metadata. The world’s leading HDTV converter, the NEO® XHD-3903, is available with built-in 3 Gb/s 1080p 50/59.94 processing and conversion capabilities, and a range of OPTO+™ fiber products offering 3 Gb/s electrical-to-optical and optical-to-electrical conversion capabilities.
For large-scale monitoring environments, the award-winning CENTRIO™ multiviewer is available as a standalone platform or as part of a system solution integrated with the Harris® Platinum™ router. This highly redundant monitoring solution allows customers to select from up to 512 sources and drive up to 64 displays, and provides multiformat input support. Combining superior graphics, scrolling video, integrated test and measurement tools and a rugged, self-contained architecture, CENTRIO™ can reduce the cost and complexity of large-system monitoring applications in mobile production and broadcast control rooms.
Test and Measurement
For advanced monitoring applications, Harris has introduced a 3 Gb/s video input module for its Videotek® VTM and TVM series of test instruments, enabling monitoring of the new progressively scanned, high frame-rate HD formats, including 1080p. Also 3 Gb/s-capable, the new Videotek AVM-717-3GB is a versatile, space-efficient and self-contained test and measurement solution. For low-cost HD monitoring, Harris has added the TVM-4DG HD waveform monitor/vectorscope, providing an easy-to-operate tool for monitoring HD-SDI and SD-SDI signals in a convenient half-rack scope package.
For portable requirements, the award-winning Videotek STAR™ handheld test instruments include the HD-STAR® HD/SD-SDI monitor/generator, which is well suited to the demands of cable field technicians, and ASI-STAR™, which features transport stream monitoring of DVB-ASI or SMPTE-310M for compliance to ETR-290 priority 1 specifications with error counting.
For file-based workflows, the Videotek QuiC™ media analysis server now combines loudness monitoring technology with automated quality control and correction tools to form a unique market offering that eliminates unacceptable volume swells for the home viewer.
