(Amsterdam-IBC, The Netherlands--September 11, 2009) A new online destination for creatives to educate themselves about digital production and the ARRI Digital Camera System will launch this Friday, the first day of IBC.

This site will offer visitors an exclusive peek at an innovative family of digital cameras from ARRI. The website provides helpful tools and straightforward information for filmmakers to cut through the often-confusing technospeak associated with shooting digital.

Covering areas like Budget, Technical and Creative, is designed with a variety of production perspectives in mind. The educational site also showcases the ARRIFLEX D-21 film style digital camera. Just a few of the topics include the ARRIFLEX D-21’s unique anamorphic capability, workflow, downloadable LUTs and budget comparisons.

Users will be able to join in on the discussion by visiting the online forum, registering for the D-21 crew directory (soon to come) or by becoming a third party developer to the ARRIRAW format.

Explains Stephan Ukas-Bradley, ARRI’s Product Manager, Digital Production, “We are excited to launch a dedicated website for the ARRI Digital Camera System. It covers not only technical aspects, but also artistic and budgetary concerns along with questions our customers might have. We designed the site with the production community as a whole in mind, hoping to further engage them in dialogue that will enable us to continue building the best possible tools for our industry.”

The ARRIFLEX D-21 combines familiar high-end film style functionality, handling and creative options with the immediacy and economy of digital acquisition. The camera’s bright optical viewfinder has zero delay, works without power and shows an image area outside the primary image. The Super 35-sized 4:3 sensor accommodates all image formats, including anamorphic 2.40:1, and exhibits the same depth of field as 35mm film.

Some of the latest productions shot on the camera system include Fox Searchlight’s “Adam,” now in select theaters, “Nurse Jackie” currently airing on Showtime and the upcoming TV shows, “Community” (NBC), “V” (ABC) and “Bored to Death” (HBO). “Little Dorrit,” produced by the BBC and shot on the D- 21, recently received a 2009 Emmy nomination in Outstanding Cinematography for a Miniseries or Movie.
